I think films are perishable, because they depend too much on technology, which advances too quickly and the films become old-fashioned, antiques. What I hope for is that technology advances to the point that films in the future will depend on a little pill which you take; then you sit in the dark, and from your eyes you project the film you want to see on a blank wall.

Which makes Les Dames a weird diversion in his career. One of Jock Dimmy’s favourite movies, another sign he’s a big theatrical gay. 70s Bresson is underrated overall. Hopefully the 4 Nights restoration is followed by a Lancelot one so more people can see this too.

>>216699504So this is the power level of film in 2025.
>>216700680It's a sad film because of the subject matter but Haneke does not exploit the subject matter to try and mine misery from the viewer. In fact he cuts away from a lot of the grittiness. The film is very elliptical in its storytelling. Large spans of time happen between scenes and bad events are inferred from dialogue. You don't see her second stroke happen, you just see her bedbound in a later scene. Hanukkah confronts you with almost nothing except the reality that his wife is dying. Audience abuse would be Lars's approach to a similar concept in Nymphomaniac, where you have to watch Stacy Martin's papa histrionically die in agony while graphically shitting all over the place. Also the ending of the husband and wife as spirits departing the apartment happily after they have died is literally the opposite of nihilism.
Not sure if this was cringe or kino, but it was enjoyable either way. Angela Bassett was really good in it.

>>216701238>Avatar: The Way of WaterHe just want Na'Vi men to fuck him in the ass. Which is also the same reason Cameron himself is making those furry transfromation fetish CGI fantasies.
>>216702507You're Under Arrest and Records of the Lodoss War
>>216702650Is it just LA, Chicago, and NYC?
>>216702636Hilarious.
How was this?
>>216702630>Suspiria would be considered a joke in any other mediumWhat does this even mean? Suspiria can't exist in any other medium.
>>216702625I want to watch that because of God Dario for sure. I wonder how Godspar's kinetic style translates to old geezer cinema. Like Shozin Fukui trying to make a Balthazar remake lol.>>216702644Dario might be one director who's actually breedier than Bobba. His lascivious camera hungrily laps at his own daughter (and that's a good thing).
>>216702681Of course it is, watching you take everything personal on a level few other people would understand. You unironically think your way of thinking is the only valid way of thinking, hence why you see everyone as retards (except for the ones which agree with you). Heil Hitler, I guess.
>>216702534Everyone has that hill they're willing to die on. Suspiria is mine.>>216702610That isn't even me you idiot LOL
what say you /waifuposters/?

>>216702722These were my only posts about this: >>216702344 >>216702600, but yes, one who questions if Suspiria and Argento have artistic merit is indeed a retard.
>>216702750Deep Red becomes a 10/10 if Jessica Harper was the lead.
>>216702742So, basically, what you're saying is "I will silence any Suspiria non enjoyers (not even haters), because my fragile ego can't deal with people not liking what I like"? I've said multiple times I love the film, so I don't even know what the fuck you're even trying to prove? That no one can dislike your favorite piece of shit film? You know this shit doesn't even matters, right?>>216702761Nazi thinking as per usual: "If you think different to me, you're retarded. I need every person to be a clone of me, or else, they shall be silenced into submission". Insecurity much?
>>216702760Inferno is underrated.
>>216702742This faggot thinks /film/ is just him and another anon, he thinks in the whole thread he was arguing with one person and not multiple people.
>>216702803He's beyond obsessed and projecting massive strawmans every time he "debates". Nigga's mentally ill for real.
>>216702772If only…
Overlooked gialkino
I wonder how this medium will look like in the next 50 years.
>>216702796Who is silencing anybody you fag, you're free to make as many posts as anybody else. You're the one who seems not to accept people thinking you're wrong, accusing others of trying to silence you by simply saying you're wrong.

>>216702865We both know if you could kill people who opposed your opinions you would do it. Your relentless bullying towards anyone with a differing opinion makes me think so, because you're unable to cope with difference.Look, here's how normal people debate: you say a, i say b, if I disagree, we can say "we agree to disagree"; on the other hand here's how a nazi "debates" (forces people to think as he thinks): I say a, you personally attack me for saying a, you completely start degrading me and insulting me for no reason, and you say I have no right to say what I say, then you ban me / take my mic away. See the difference?

>>216702958Lmao, you're insane. Legit ultranazi amongst the /film/ ranks.
>>216702691https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YADJXv1azGoI always say this is my fav Argento theme song. It's not that impressive on its own but it's basically an honourable retirement for a once-great artist. After so many shitty films, he finally cobbled together a decent one to end it at. It's like a KO artist boxer gets old, gets knocked out in a bunch of matches, then in his final fight manages to respectfully take the bout to a decision and walk away knowing he gave it his all. Dark Glasses is basically the fight Rocky had when he was 60 in "Rocky Balboa" and it was a personal victory that he didn't get turned into a smear on the sidewalk. It's fine but he has like 12 better movies.>>216702750I'm an Asia guy and she has more of daddy's features... >>216702772Was going to joke it would be funny to see her in male drag playing David Hemmings but then I realised Dario did have a woman play the gay guy's boyfriend in it.>>216702837So many filmmakers steal from the Looch because he's seen as lowbrow and of no artistic merit, and these types are always easy to steal from. In fact these defenseless "garbage" filmmakers are probably more pilfered from than respected ones. Hackantino ripped him off so hard for Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, Villeneuve stole the ending of The Psychic wholesale for Prisoners. He gets no respect I tell ya.>>216702878Your fault for having "film" connected with "cinema" in your mind. There are repertory theatres that primarily play movies from 40, 50, 60 years ago, there will always be new films made and screened, who gives a shit if they're not made with 200 dollars? Perhaps better for film to go the way of poetry and jazz, so I only go to the theatre and see a work of passion made for art's sake rather than cheap entertainment.
>>216702987I fucking wish we had ultranazis posting here. there's just a bunch of faggy south american communists
>>216702987You truly think you're a woman on the inside so your opinion means less than nothing.
I recommend the films of Edmond Bernhard, Sunday and Chess in particular are very good. He was the teacher of Grandrieux at INSAS

>>216703235>One Battle After Anotherworst slop in the last decade and im not even political memeing
Theaters will close, "arthouse films" will move to art galleries.
>>216703292and i will wear a scarf and allow shit to seep into my pants
>>216703277Most independent theatres in the past closed down in the first place because of the atomization of movie consumption and multiplexes. If all the big budget works went to TV, and the multiplexes shut down for good, then we would most likely go to the "one two, three screen theatre per town" model which is fine with me. Just as streaming is basically tv reinventing cable, i think cinema will reinvent roadshows and double bills and such.
>>216703403Ok.

>>216703235One Battle After Another is an amazing kino and I'm not even erotic memeing.
>>216703235There was this one girl I know from Twitter, a total slut, she post lewd, sometimes does it for money. a bit classy and I'm sure she comes from wealth. she's one of those "red scare" girl, 20, white, pretty, very intelligent but also extremely mentally ill, cut marks on her thighs. I tried to flirt with her, she never took the bait, she told me that her favorite movie is Nymphomaniac, she's somewhat related to the movie, because she is somewhat of a nymph, she told me she has the worst case of OCD, the one where it constantly gives you bad thought, i'm sure they're pedophilic but I never asked.I tried to get her to watch Anti Christ since she loves Nymphomaniac and I think she'd probably related to Anti Christ even more, I don't think she had watch it yet after I recommended it and it has been weeks since then.I do like her but I'm sure I'm just another of random in her DM, she's very smart, I like hearing her tell me things that I don't know about. I like her.

>>216702708It translates by the movie not actually being kinetic. Instead it's shot almost entirely with a split-screen and it's one of the best utilisations of this gimmick I have ever seen. It's a completely different perspective on staging of dialogues.
