Half the show is establishing shots in foreign locations that took a long time to film and the actors he likes just doing nothing as he films their feet.

You could have cut down season 1 into half of a season and if you didn't spend so much time flying all over the world filming Rhea Sneedhorn in exotic locations you'd have more time to film the episodes. We could have had a season where this finale is just the mid-point of the season.
