And even when these feasts were institutionalized as Chrismas, there were efforts to separate it from the church. Santa Claus comes from figures like father christmas, sinterklaas, and christkindl which, even if related to Christ or based on St. Nicholas, were folklore representations rather than actual clergy. Europeans didn't want their long standing winter feasting to be purely about Christ, that kind of thinking came much later with the puritans and other reformation schizos.
About 3 and a half years ago I was a lonely incel NEET with no work history, no relationship history, no goals, nothing. Within the last 3 years I found a career I am passionate about, married into a huge family, and had a daughter. Just a reminder that things change.

This is the solstice so its the period where the leftovers from harvest would be about to spoil and we as humans need to hunker down and eat long lasting food like nuts and farmed animal meat to last us the winter. So we eat in abundance on the equinox to mark the beginning of the difficult months.Like I said I normally cook a meal for a friend but dont feel like doing it. Though I did say to my friend I will cook one in the new year or some time when i can be bothered.I also do have a lot of food here anyway, just not food for a chrismas meal.Main reason i didnt want to cook is simply because I have had a bad year and when i do this cooking i do it all on my own, a massive meal, pay for it too while my friend is chilling out and we are both drinking.its too much work for me and I dont have the effort for it. Especially after last year too where it was a massive meal and lots of issues happened I cant be bothered to explain.Essentially I spend the whole day working to make a wholesome meal while my friend is relaxing having fun, playing vidya and boozing, Where I just wanted to play vidya and chill.Then to top it off I have just had a loved one die making the whole period quite unhappy.I cant even chill and play vidya now.
