up to like season 6 is kinoup to the end of the original run you need to ignore any actual plot eps but might enjoy some monster of the week ones.revival? what revival?
>>216878706It suffered from trying to have an over arching plot without knowing where it wanted to go with it's plotlines, and being a serialized TV show that went on for too long. You can see this by fact that they open and close the x files department like 20 times

>>216878706>Now that the dust has settledI FUCKING HATE MAGGOTS WHO SAY THAT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>216878995I don’t get the dislike for season 6. Has a lot of fun episodes. Just rewatched How The Ghost Stole Christmas. Iwatch The Rain King every Valentine. 3 of a Kind with the Lone Gunmen is good. Drive is great and pretty much the prototype to Breaking Bad. Season 7 is when it went to shit
MOTW episodes are the only ones worth watching. The mythology got worse as it went along
>>216879117I actually meant up to season 7 so my badthe problem is they wrote themselves into a bit of a corner of the myth arc in 6 with how the whole rebels thing played out. shit went downhill from there
>>216878995This. Up to 6, inclusive. Monster of the week only after that.

>>216878706my verdict is:>it was a different time.
Daphne DuMaurier
>>216878706I'm on my first watch. Scully is distractingly cute! And Mulder is a legit great role model. The show is proof the old 90s film techniques were the best, and the writing is just another level or two above what we get now.
>>216878706should have ended with season 3 coogler shouldn't really be remaking it but if he does he should get mark mckenna to play mulder

>>216878706>202 episodes not counting the movies and the revival seasonsJesus, how do you niggas do it?It would take you the better part of a year to watch The X-Files in its entirety if you watch 1 episode per day. How do you even take on such a time commitment?
>>216883579There's no rush.
>>216883579Was better to have been there when it aired. I wouldn't have the patience for it now.
>>216883579Here is what I discovered. The old shows were not designed to be watched in sequence and binged. People would watch an episode a week. And shows were wrote and designed for that. So, what I have been doing when watching old shows is I will select several old shows, and alternate watching an episode of each. So I might watch an X-Files episode every couple days. Makes watching it feel fresh. It actually is a fun way to do it. And I had to get out of the mindset that the purpose of watching a show was to complete it. The purpose is just to enjoy the episodes as I watch them. Which is how people used to watch those shows. Watch the weekly episode, enjoy it, and move on with life.

>>216878706The first 5 seasons are almost unimpeachable. Season 6 is a mixed bag with some gems but misses more than it hits. Season 7 is bad, but I like a few episodes (even "Closure"). >>216882079>And Mulder is a legit great role model. How so?
>>216886495On the surface, Mulder is admirable in ways that are easy to overlook because he never flaunts them. He’s fit, disciplined, and intellectually sharp, with a mind shaped by serious reading rather than trends or noise. His humor is dry and understated, never crude or attention‑seeking, and he carries his competence lightly—he’s good at what he does without ever being performative about it. Even before you get to his deeper qualities, he models a kind of grounded, adult masculinity that’s confident without being loud, capable without being self‑congratulatory, and curious without being naïve.Beneath that exterior, though, are the virtues that make Mulder genuinely compelling. He pursues truth with a stubborn moral courage that doesn’t bend to ridicule, institutional pressure, or personal cost. He’s willing to be the outsider if that’s what integrity demands, yet he treats others—especially Scully—with respect, openness, and a willingness to be challenged. He’s emotionally honest in a world that rewards detachment, and he maintains a defiant hope even when the universe seems chaotic or hostile. Mulder’s deeper virtue is that he refuses to let cynicism have the last word; he keeps caring, keeps searching, and keeps believing that meaning is real and worth fighting for.

I'm gonna be honest I don't care for season 4. There's only about 4, maybe 5 good episodes in that entire season. Chupacabra episode and golem episode were especially dogshit, to say nothing of the mytharc.

>>216888457I don't know what that anon is talking about. The first movie was advertised as "The Truth is Coming", but not much was revealed, and the little that was, was ingnored by the following seasons of tv show. It was never advertised as being the end of anything, 'cause season 6 (and 7) were already set in stone before the movie's premiere. The second movie, was a cheapo production 20th Century Fox threw out there because of the writer's strike, but at least they were transparent about it being a standalone story not tied to the alien invasion conspiracy.
