People were intrigued by the potential of the kino first episode but the rest of the season is such a slow milk fest its almost maddening. The show is an experience its different than what anyone else is doing right now, its got a lot of things to say about the world, has great characters. Its slow on purpose to get you considering what living in its world is like. Smart audiences know this and opt in to it. The show is amazing how it talks about hiveminds and shows how cults and oppressive regimes form. Through this slowly developing series, because cults begin very slowly as well. Yes I know its a show about aliens but its also a satire on cult thinking and its dangers.

They provide the argument for the aliens way of thinking at first then slowly pick it apart leading to nice payoffs for the viewer.

This is actually Vince's most mature work of art and it goes beyond just crime meth pew pew or im a lawyer guy although you still get a great male character its like three different genres in one season and does them all pretty well. What its saying about society its profound and gives you old stories but done in such a fresh way it makes you reappreciate them.

I am in the middle. it is worth watching for sure... but i found myself fast forward through parts. At times it goes waaaaay too slow. And that isn't ADHD talking. There is a slight pacing problem here, but outside of those rare cases where it goes from slow burn or slow paced, it is fascinating... 8/10. I don't hate it. But don't love it. I like it. It can absolutely turn this around in S2. But this show doesn't need to go beyond 4 seasons, and doesn't even need 10 episodes a season. 4 seasons 8-9 episodes a season sound right. But there needs to be a curve ball at the end of S2 and another in season S3

S2 end curve ball - manage to cure that brunette milf at least partly... she kind of wavers going back and forth in S3 of rejoining or not. Also eggs are destroyed so MC can't be turned.
S3 ending curve ball - Hive finds a way to turn all survivors even with the needle and begins starting to do so in S4.

If this show has no big curve balls like that it just isn't going to work.

I started off liking it - going in blind.

When I was into the second episode, I'd already questioned how the concept could possibly fit the format of a TV series rather than a movie and the more I watched, the more that seemed right.
