Just came back from watching this flick. It was alright. Did some Rich Evans type laughs during the final battle but overall it was an alright movie. My time was mostly spent analyzing the CGI, compositing, and wondering what, if any practical sets/objects were used.

Problem I'm having with the entire franchise is that the Jake/Neytiri and the family stuff is played for extreme drama, with them wailing and crying and constantly hyperemotional and distraught.... and then the RDA and Quaritch and Varang etc.. are saturday morning cartoon villains hamming it up and bumbling around with all their fighting almost being slapstick and full of humorous bits. And in the end they always do "I'll get you next time Sullyyyyy" and retreat. It's really shlocky and not tonally congruent with what Cameron is trying to do with the emotional shit with Jake's family. That's why it was a mistake to have Quaritch keep returning and it's a mistake to make the RDA look buffoonish all the time.
it would be cool if NeyNey goes full Hitler and Jake is forced to reluctantly go along, and Quaritch goes full hippy and becomes the good guy by the end.
