Just finished. Killing Spree (1984). Plotless homemade French slasher where cute frencho girls get slaughtered by a guy in overalls. They're home, he magically appears from out of nowhere, repeat. Then, last five minutes, big twist! he's a girl, and the girls were all lovers her husband was cheating on her with. Then they all come back from the dead and hack her to bits in her bed. 50 minutes long, shot silent with music added after. Very lo-fi, kinda well done for something so amateur.

Huh. I wonder if that means they're gonna give the next F13 film to Mike P Nelson. Or maybe even cast the lead girl in the full film.

Watched that last month, which is why I decided to start this series (same director.) i saw picrel ages ago when Synapse put their dvd out, but never dug deeper into his films but he's been churning them out this whole time and Error4444's SP bluray got my attention. He's the only filmmaker I know talking honestly about sexual politics in his movies and it's a huge part of Rape Zombie. Fascinating guy.
>>216897053
Don't remember any. It's a gore movie, there's nothing else in it, not even dialogue.

Gonna watch Crimes of the Black Cat

Just finished. Lesser known Native American themes creature feature from the director of Night of the Demons. Very tame, has the feeling of a made for cable flick or even 50s b-movie though it does get a little bit of energy up for the climax. Has an "additional scenes directed by" credit at the end so I'm guessing it was a troubled production. A family moves into an Arizona house and find a secret door behind a bookcase leading to a cellar, and release a giant rat monster that secrets some kind of toxic ooze. It also has a tunnel to a nearby sinkhole and drags people into it. The main character is the young son, who's into electronics and rigs up a bomb to an RC car at the end. The villain is L.G. from TCM2. Dull but mildly charming.

First one is probably more serious than you're expecting, the sequels have more and goofier Ghoulie action.

remember when they said they were gonna release all 3 of these films in 2024, I remember. at least this one is closer to 3.
it's made them bank, they'll probably crack 80m from around ~10m budget which I think means Lionsgate will do this kind of trilogy again with some other IP.

seems like it made a lot of people mad on letterboxd so it must be decent

>>216900617
The first like half hour is basically an incel video essay, it's pretty blackpilled about women and there isn't much that rubs letterboxd the wrong way more than that.

Kek this was not what I expected, it was like someone watched Phantasm and said, yes perfect it just needs some special effects.
Good cast. The ghoulies were about as threatening as large rats.

Just finished. Nine Faces of Fear, 1995. Nine people, priests, mediums, psychologists, etc, are locked overnight in a haunted hotel where a mass murder took place to film a documentary, and immediately start getting possessed and taking each other out. It's like a cheap, retarded version of Rose Red. I don't speak Spanish, but I could tell some serious scenery chewing was going on here. Nobody in this behaves like a normal person, I had a good time with it.

Just finished. Boobless and nearly bloodless slash-free SOV Brit slasher with Donald Pleasance about a bunch of models getting knocked of at an exotic photo shoot. I can't believe how many movies this guy is in and how low rent some of them are. Anyway I got a big kick out of this. If you want to see what kind of stuff Garth Merenghi was making fun of this is a perfect example. It's mostly set in Malta and feels like a tourism video but most importantly THEY GO TO THE FUCKING POPEYE ISLAND!! The climax is even shot there! If there's one thing a horror movie can do to automatically double it's score with me it's take place at the fucking island they shot Popeye at, I've never seen another one do it. Oh boy, that made my fucking day
