For me, it's Fore! I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip To Be Square". A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It's also a personal statement about the band itself.

In the US, Running Up That Hill was a hit, and the rest of Kate’s work was popular among music nerds and on college radio.
I’m not sure why this is the thing that people get so annoyed by considering Stranger Things has multiple much more unlikely media features such as the Evil Dead and The Thing posters in S1 or the Extreme song from S4 that wasn’t released until a few years after 1986 (when the season is set).

Im more annoyed by the posters all over the walls in these things. They are pristine perfect posters and movies that everyone loves in retrospect. Not to say nobody would have them but all at the same time is a stretch. The posters would have steples holes from being pulled out of magazines and kids would often put random shit up because they couldnt get anything else .

From 1981-1990 pop was defined by MTV. If it wasn't getting played on MTV 24/7 it wasn't in the public consciousness. She was not.
>>
thread full of people who don't know, was mid-20s during the 80s and barely anyone watched TV habitually enough to follow MTV, getting more information about their favorite bands from magazines. but the ST kids were presumably all born in the mid-late 70s and are all middle class suburbanites so they probably all watched TV habitually.

people who were actually into music either went roadie mode and followed bands around, or hung out at the venues in their city that booked bands they liked. suburbanites and ruralites would just hang out at music shops or bars. im kinda surprised they never touched on any of the culture surrounding music in this show given how much they reference 80s music.

most people got their music taste from falling into a social group and then going to bars with those people. liability laws and litigious kikes hadn't raped america yet so teenagers going to bars was still common. this is partly why dive bars exist, rural and suburban bars stagnated and started only catering to locals because all the kids would go to the city to go drinking(also no DUI laws yet and nobody would bother a drunk sleeping it off in their car)
>>

interesting that this Op got so many people riled up. it is a simple Yes if you are just asking generally. she was a charting artist. now if you are asking specifically about that character's likelihood of listening to Kate Bush, the likelihood goes down because she wasn't as popular in America, but it doesnt mean that kid wouldnt know her. you'd have to know what other kind of stuff that kid is into, are they generally into alt/hipster stuff? then Yes they might listen to Kate Bush.

I have my mum's first pressings of all her albums. Running up that hill is a dogshit song compared to her other early work so you can identify fake fans by that and you can identify a redditor if their favourite album is anything made after hounds of love

Which would work better? The gold PROMO COPY: NOT FOR SALE stamp in the corner, or a cutout mark?

My dad said he liked Wuthering Heights back in the day. I don't think he was a big indiefag.
>>
>>216909973
Yes but not anywhere near as popular as they're making it. There's a reason she never really charted or lasted and only got a revamp bc of the show.

The cover by Placebo of Running Up That Hill is pretty boss thoughl.

She glorified her mother's prior abortion. Quick descent after that.

I dunno. I started looking at girls in 5th/6th grade and they listened to tiffany and debbie gibson over and over. Never heard of Kate's Bush. Maybe that was older kids. I remember going to my first dances in Jr High and having my heart break over the certainty that I would never dance with anyone there. I think Red Red Wine and Sweet Child o Mine also Poison was playing.. Probably other shit too. I think Bon Bon Jovi and Def Leotard were sung on the bus going to summer camp but that would have been Elementary School. I don't think I went to camp after age 10.
Bon Bon Jovi gave me the 'These are the Days of our Lives' vibe. I think my Gran watched that. If she'd been a elementary schooler, she probably would have listened to Bon Bon Jovi.

I hate these Jordan Peterson obfuscation techniques.
>Erm, you're both clumps of cells, so how are you different.

The left does this same thing with gender

>Erm, if a woman is someone who can give birth, then what do you call women born without a womb?

A fetus is obviously different from a born human and a tranny is obviously different than a biological woman. End of story.

You don't have a meaningful way to distinguish betweens animals that don't recognize in a mirror and aninals that don't care.
The only thing your "mirror test" do is find vanity. The ooga booga touching their faces, lifting head in different angles? Yes that shows vanity and self awareness.
But the test doesn't prove that anyone that sees themselves, stops, and keeps walking, is NOT self aware.
This is what happens when a mid mind tries to follow broscience to seem smarter.

there really isn't an equivalent because there is no dominant music pop culture in 2025. everything is niche now and most people listen to their own personal algorithm. there's no MTV to set tastes, radio is only listened to in cars. also in the 80s america was 80% white not 56%. so every ethnic minority has their own music they listen to. every construction site and resturant kitchen has that mexican accordion music playing, niggers blast rap out of their rattling untuned subwoofers, etc.

there's no michael jackson type star today who even people who don't really like his music know his songs because they are a cultural phenomenon. maybe the closest thing is taylor swift, but her audience is all late millenials/early zoomers.

gen alpha doesn't really have even that.

which means if everyone is niche no one is
