Unironically a perfect movie
That's what they call a Big Marty in France
>>216925868Tim really wants that Oscar, huh?
>>216925908i spit out my drink all over my keyboard you fucker
>>216925868>tomothee chalmeet>good movielel
>>216925868Ping Pong kino is back on the menu
I'll pass, but I swear I would watch it if it didn't have Chalamet attached.
>>216925868Bathtub scene scared the everliving fuck out of me
I feel so bad for Benny. The Smashing Machine wasn't terrible but it's like his solo directing career is over because Josh's movie is so good but also has twice the budget and way more hype. What I really love about the Safdies is getting conviction from non-actors and they both do this very well. But yeah, it took some time but Uncut Gems really opened doors for them.
>>216925868...what's an example of an ironically perfect movie?
>>216925985He's really good as a rat faced Jew fuck.
>>216926018Cafe Flesh. It's the best narrative porn film ever made but it is still porn.
is he the new johnny depth?
>>216925868Is what I’d be saying if it was half an hour shorter. Much like Anora, this movie in no way justifies being over two hours.
>>216926045DePalma recommends that film
>>216926063disregard this anon, it flew by. then again, I'm really smart and read classic novels and philosophy, so I probably have a much longer attention span
>>216925868fuck off chalamet nobody wants to see a fucking ping pong movie
>>216926204Your thinking is flawed. Most modern movies don’t need to be as long as they are. Like why was Jurassic World Dominion 2h20m long? Why was Cruella 2h15m? Tighten that shit up. Anora, as I mentioned would be improved by being a good 20 minutes shorter. As is, it wears out its welcome and so does Marty Supreme imo.
>>216926063pretty much. it meanders aimlessly
>>216925868>Sloppy SupremeShan't be watching
>>216925868I walked out when he started crying about a baby.
>>216925868I’m going to see it tomorrow :)
>>216926008He's a great actor, he'll be fine
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE TORRENT
Marty or odessamcjew should have died though
>>216926258>Jurassic World Dominion>Cruella
>>216926334Watch the post credits
>>216926299I see what you did there
>>216925868This might just be my imagination here, but did Marty seem jewish to anyone else?
>>216926345Just a couple recent examples off the top of my head, but so many movies have unnecessarily bloated runtimes. Wonder Woman 1984 is an insane 150 minutes long as well.
>>216925868I simply wont watch a movie if this guy is in it
>>216926416Hell, Uncut Gems is another one that should’ve been a good 15 to 20 minutes shorter. Good Time is a nice, tight 100 minutes.
>>216926416yeah, honestly, I agree with you anon
>>216926008Hopefully Josh will accept him back as a partner instead of continuing to go solo
>>216926355Don't lie to me
>supposedely the best ping pong player in the world>never practices
>THERE’S A ROOM WHERE THE LIGHT WON’T FIND YOU>HOLDING HANDS WHILE THE WALLS COME TUMBLING DOWN>WHEN THEY DO I’LL BE RIGHT BEHIND YOU
>>216925868It's a solid 8/10, very good, but not perfect.Uncut Gems is perfect.
>>216927024Too long by 15-20 minutes. Uncut Gems doesn’t justify being over two hour imo. Cut out The Weeknd entirely and most of the Kevin Garnett stuff.
What was the point of the Jewish bitch telling her husband that the baby wasn’t his? I thought she was gonna get him to kill Marty but he just kicks her out the apartment.
>>216926962This should have been the only modern pop song in the movie
The shilling for this movie is strange.
>>216925868My favorite scene is when those guys lick the honey off that other guy's body.
>>216926008Mark Kerr was a bad choice for MMA movie and the Rock was a terrible choice as lead
>>216926492He practices when he does scam bets at random arcades
>>216927285The Rock was good
>>216927051is runtime the only aspect of filmmaker that you're capable of comprehending ? cutting a donkey's mane does not make it a tiger.
>>216926063Agreed, the final act was very tacked on. Also the Safdies are not at their best when their films aim for a thematic message. This film seemed like it was trying to say something about ambition, talent, family, love, etc but none of that really went anywhere because it’s impossible to develop themes when random, abrupt violence and stakes-upping is how the plot advances.
>>216928253No he wasn't, he's a mediocre actor and he turned the film into an embarassing marketing scheme for himself to rebrand his failing career. It was a terrible choice.
>>216927092Good point. I think we were supposed to look at her as a kind of "equivalent hustler" to Marty (fake black eye, etc) so the scene felt uncharacteristically earnest from her and doesn't go anywhere.
>>216927092she wanted to end the relationship before the baby was born since she was almost due so that she could be single for marty. she never gave up on him
as soon as I saw him chipping away at the pyramid I knew there was going to be a scene about how they built itnow the problem is in any other jew movie I know it would be an earnest scene, but since josh safdie is a genuine old /tv/ poster I don't know like the honey scene about the camp survivor was clearly making fun of jews
it's a fine little entertaining romp but the glaze for these reheated nachos as a triumph of cinema is wildly hysterical, same with Chalamet's performance.watch Bi Gan's 'Resurrection' for real cinema OTY
>>216926018The Room
the scene where he risked his life to get the money out of the pocket of the dying dog owner happened AFTER the paddling scene here he secured his trip to japan. why did he risk his life to get money he didn't need? to convince the girl he still needed the money since he wants the paddling to stay secret?because he felt bad about the girl getting shot so he went back for the money to make it seem like it was all worth it?neither of those seem like good answers
>>216925918No naked scene, no art. Just get him naked and bent over.
>>216928271No, but in this case there’s a direct comparison in Good Time, which I feel is more effective due to its leaner runtime.
>>216928851maybe it's time you run to get some bitches lmao
>>216928271Capeshitter, runtime is an absolutely valid consideration.
>>216928873I gave you a perfectly reasonable response. Uncut Gems pulls off its magic trick the first time you watch it, but the padded out, meandering runtime is glaring upon rewatch. Good Time is simply more effective.
