Now that a new Avatar is out and people who have never watched them are inexplicably very mad about them again, a sentiment I keep seeing repeated is that "Despite the franchise making billions of dollars, Avatar has no iconic lines, scenes or characters that have had a lasting cultural impact." Setting aside the fact that saying something like this is a transparent way of coping with the fact that something you don't like has made a lot of money, I would also contend that it's a point in the series' favor. Think of how many movies you've watched that have some stupid lines that are obviously written to be "quotable" lines they'll put in the trailer and people will regurgitate endlessly for years. Meanwhile Avatar are just written like proper movies. They're not trying to be quotable. They just tell a good story. It's like successful gatekeeping on a massive scale, people watch them, are happy with them, but don't try to hamfistedly force them into the cultural zeitgeist.
