Why didn't Sauron seal it with a door and take the key to Barad-dur?
>>
>>216934073
Because Tolkien thought fetch quest chains were gay and uncreative.
>>

>Lock to door
>Take the key to Barred Door
bravo

guarded against whom? nobody would dare enter mord—ACK
>>
>the rings wants to be found
Why? Sauron was winning without it and the ring made him loose
>>
why didnt they just nuke mordor? are they stupid?
>>
Tolkien was such an asshole about this. Every time a reader would ask him about this or one of the other thousand plot holes in LOTR he would just wink and say “a story for another time!” and smoke his pipe with a bit of brandy and not say another word. What an asshole

Arrogance. But we all know youve had this explained to you before

Because you're a fat black nigger?

Nah that's not a good explanation. Having your character lose because they're retarded is not satisfying
>>216933971
Actually, it was guarded.
>>

The Ring was the only way Sauron thought he could lose, although he didn't think anyone would actually try to destroy it. He thought that someone of great will might manage to tame the Ring's powers for themselves and challenge him.
>>

>although he didn't think anyone would actually try to destroy it.
He also thought nobody would be able to destroy it willingly, and he was right.
He didn't plan for Gollum and maybe god to pop in and fuck it all up for him
>>
>>216933971
>Couldn't even be bothered to install a locked door
Sauron deserved to lose
>>
>>216935618
>Sauron deserved to lose
I don't think anybody ever argued otherwise
>>
>>216935373
He wanted it so no one else could get it. He was neurotically paranoid about the numenoreans (like Aragon) getting it and challenging him because they already clapped his cheeks once
>>
>>216934073
He was still using it? He likley forged Grond there

A character failing because of their own hubris is classical storytelling 101, which is what LotR is. Modern media is trying so hard to deconstruct classic tales that you get shit like later seasons of GoT. Sometimes all you need is a simple, effective story.

But Sauron was right, no one would or could destroy the ring. The only reason it fell into the lava was because Frodo and Gollum fought over it. Gollum was the key piece in the story whose story no one could've predicted. Gandalf literally says this to Frodo in Fellowship.

A fell beast?
>>
>>216935855
Sauron losing the way he did has a huge amount of buildup and detail in the books, and even a decent amount in the movies.

>villain defeated because his fortress needed another door
>name evil lair Mor Door
TOLKIEN YOU HACK!
