>couple goes back and forth being vulnerable and honest
>recalls each of its flaws and failures with 100% self realization
>both parties use spot on psychiatrist lingo
>they explain their shitty behavior by some childhood BS
>shitty music
Is there a name for that? Therapist's wet dream?
I hate it

Having sex usually fixes the problem.

It just comes from a bunch of writers now being millennial women on SSRIs who steal terms from the therapist they've been seeing for 20 years.

>it's not my fault I betrayed you and treat you like shit
>you don't understand
>i have T R A U M A ! ! !

This is how I feel watching Amazing Digital Circus. The writers get up their own asses too much and many of the “heartfelt” moment are super shallow.

Do they not understand how fucking weird it looks for a person who's not addicted to anti-depressants?

No because they live in a bubble where everybody is like that.

I’m a big fan of pulling yourself up by the bootstraps, but don’t talking that shit on /pol/. A thousand deranged, lazy, emotionally stunted zoomers well come out of the woodwork with their sob story about why they can’t get their shit together.

That being said, I think there’s some truth in the fact that more of this shit becomes prevalent as more modern men and women get into writing. They grew up, the women especially, being told they had to work twice as hard as a man, etc etc. The men of the past were taught how to handle pressure and basically shut the fuck up about it. But today any adversity, and these people go running to their therapist. Meanwhile, they show up to the office the next day as your boss. It’s a weird thing.

Rather than modern self help I found the classics had this figured out, like Plutarch's conclusion to his comparison of Timoleon and Aemilius:
>As that body is, without doubt, the most strong and healthful which can the easiest support extreme cold and excessive heat in the change of seasons, and that the most firm and collected mind which is not puffed up with prosperity nor dejected with adversity; so the virtue of Æmilius was eminently seen in his countenance and behaviour, continuing as noble and lofty upon the loss of two dear sons, as when he achieved his greatest victories and triumphs. But Timoleon, after he had justly punished his brother, a truly heroic action, let his reason yield to a causeless sorrow, and humiliated with grief and remorse, forbore for twenty years to appear in any public place, or meddle with any affairs of the commonwealth. It is truly very commendable to abhor and shun the doing any base action; but to stand in fear of every kind of censure or disrepute may argue a gentle and open-hearted, but not an heroic temper.
