Why is this board so obsessed with how much money a movie makes and how much "cultural impact" it has?
>>
>why should people care about the objective quality of something
hmm idk
>>

one autist obsessed with avatar doesnt make an entire board.

The majority of the world and now the internet is brown and low IQ. Are you saying that if the majority likes something, it'll be good? I disagree.
>>

Nah it's a youtube thing. Back in tha 90's there was 0 talk about box office. Mb Titanic and Waterworld, becouse they were such an outliers.
>>
>>216943303
because zoomies are herd creatures that grew up in social media and can't form their own opinion
they don't know if they like something unless there is a metric or some type or social commentary or impact to gauge it by
they can't just say they liked it because they liked it, that is unfathomable
>>

Back in the 90s they weren't paying absolutely ludicrous amounts of money to the stars, directors and producers of the movies. Back in the 90s an average movie didn't cost 250 to 400 million dollars, so most of the movies made back the money they cost. Unlike today.

they're all e-drones

I regret to inform you, the culture war is still on.
>>
>>216943303
Because nobody trusts movie critics the days because critics are all woke liberal cunts
Meanwhile they can't fake box office numbers so if the movie made a billion dollars that means millions of people saw the movie
It's why people worship avatar here
>>
>>216943303
The opposite end of "nobody knows who/what this is; IDC"
>>
>>216944710
>woke liberal cunts
As opposed to Avatar? Do you even know what those movies are about kek
>>
>>216943396
>he thinks avatar is the only problem
>>

NPCs can't innately measure artistic merit.
>>
>>216943303
It's the same types of people who obsess over steam charts and metacritic scores on /v/. Safely ignore them.

The anons spamming about BO numbers are actually people who work in the industry and those are all marketing threads.
The "cultural impact" faggots are social media grifters.
>>
Because social media turned discussing art into sports betting so now everyone under the age of 30 only gives a fuck about how much of a verifiable success something is or if their personal favorite "team" (studio) is doing well financially
