I just got back from watching Avatar 3, I didn't go see it sooner because I saw it at one of those screener showings in Feb. My Wife wanted to see it so agreed to go with her.

>it was a totally different movie
Cameron changed everything the one I saw felt like a fever dream version of what I saw before. The one I saw was 5 out of 5, the one I just saw was 3 out of 5.

What the fuck? They removed the entire plot about Eywa dying and Pandora being terraformed, so many things that were explained in the one I saw was cut from the movie. Let me give an example
>the flux in Fire and Ash just appears
>selfridge in Fire and Ash just appears
IN THE ACTUAL MOVIE
>Selfridge is introduced as the head of the BRIDGE project and why he's returned
>They test fire it at the start it does this CGI of pandora getting sent a giant pulse through it
>This giant pulse 'hurts Eywa' this causes the flux we see in the movie
>it's the entire reason why everyone needs to get it together and go into action

Has Cameron lost his fucking mind? Or just cucked by test audiences?
>>
>>216948562
i just saw it and was wondering for a while why there's that huge flux out of a sudden but then decided it's a cartoon basically so who gives a fuck
>>
>>216948562
Sounds believable.

That weird tornado felt very out of place in the movie. Pandora had magic trees and floating magnetic islands, but it's not a world of sky beam lasers.
>>
>>216948562
what happened to the general?
>>
>>216948562
>My Wife wanted to see it so agreed to go with her.

Why would a woman want to see a fap-bait movie?
>>
>>216948562
The flux was never explained in avatar 3 fire and ash. What the fuck was the flux where did it come from? It was never in avatar the way of water? wtf!??
>>
>>216949069
The flux is Eywa's "squirt", to put it crudely.
>>
>>216949034
Just got archived. Someone needs to make a new one.
>>
>>216949175
Can't somebody make a new one and post the link before it gets archived?
>>
>>216949225
That should have been done, yes. But anons are lazy it seems.
>>
>>216949175
I mean General Ardmore, what happened to her?
>>
>>216949069
In the version I saw, it's an 'open wound' caused by the test firing of the BRIDGE weapon (which was totally cut from the final version).
>>

>The flux was never explained in avatar 3 fire and ash. What the fuck was the flux where did it come from? It was never in avatar the way of water? wtf!??
Agreed, but
It didnt really need it. It's just another "the moon has a shitload of magnetism" effect.
Why do the mountains float?
Why are there all these circular mountains?
Why is there a sudden spout of magnetic force?
the movie doesnt explain any of it, but it is consistent in it's "aint gonna explain this shit."
>>
Jim Cameron's obsession with water is getting old. Why the FUCK is your movie called Fire and Ash mostly taking place on an island and in the ocean, which is where the previous movie about water took place?
>>
>>216949542
The movies explain all of those though. This flux just appears and no one gives it another thought. They certainly don't explain how dangerous it is, which they seem not to know. Jake, Quaritch, and the General don't seem to recognize that it will suck up metal.
>>
>>216949495
I presume he survives since it's teased in the game but I remember her death being from the ship getting sucked in the vortex.
>>
>>216949598
>The movies explain all of those though.
Yeah - they are all "lots of magnetism".
>They certainly don't explain how dangerous it is
The specifically do when they are bringing the armada in, that would be the general knowing.
>Jake, Quaritch
I can excuse their lapse of intelligence for being around a bunch of Na'vi that have been groomed into never having anything to do with metal.
Because of all the magnetism on the planet, most likely, but also because Eywa wants to keep them primitive.
>>
>>216949594
Because he wants to extract the maximum amount of cash from the franchise.
Basically half of F&A is leftover ideas from WotW. He's dragging it out because each movie is making a billion easy.
>>
>>216949613
>I remember her death being from the ship getting sucked in the vortex.
I thought that, too, but it is possible she got to an escape pod and survived.
Which sucks because if she does she should at least be court martialed or fired or whatever and removed. Her choices were dumb and her character is bad.
Weird that she plays basically the same role in Mayor of Kingstown and somehow it works there. Better writing for the choices, I would guess.
>>
>>216949594
that was the worst thing, it was such a rehash of the 2nd movie. at least the 2nd movie was distinctly visually different from the first one
>>
>>216949718
Definitely should have been more ruined landscape and volcano and lava in the third.
Let us see where Eywa has turned her back to.
>>
>>216949613
No, in the version I saw Quaritch kills her and then runs off with the Fire woman that scene wasn't even in the final version
>>
>>216949675
Yeah it's just an all purpose trope of an advanced civ going "back to monke" and prohibiting use of scientific advancement. Eywa basically conveniently banned the use of metal.

The whole thing comes off as something catastrophic happening in the past (those arch mountains seem like megastructures or parts of them) and they seem to be localized around those nodes with magic hdmi trees. same thing with these fluxes.

This is all because the end game is them exporting this way of life and philosophy and all that to Earth, implying that something similar happened on Pandora way back when and they "solved" it by going back to monke, and now this solution will "save" Earth.
>>
I think OP might be telling the truth because there was some leaked script pages from the movie shown in some video talking about something called the "Beta Bridge" and that might be OP is talking about. Wonder why cut this from the movie, thought wouldn't be the first time Cameron cuts an entire major element from the films climax (Avatar 1 with the forest being napalm'd and the scientist Avatars revolting at the RDA compound)
>>
I believe this. The editing in the final battle was such a clusterfuck. I didn't know what was going on half of the time.
>>
>>216949747
Maybe you just dreamt that version. Really unlikely they would have a vastly different screener.
>>
>>216948562
You made up shit to troll people before the film released, well done you, the medal is in the post. Thing is though 4 chan is not reddit, its anonymous posts so nobody gives a shit if your old posts are exposed as bullshit, nobody remembers them anyway and when they're pruned they just go in the bin.
>>
>>216949764
More like he's making it up based on those notes. If there was a screener with entirely different plot points the info about such a screener would've already leaked.
>>
>>216949542
The flux is super important in the final battle and all the humans know this super dangerous but we never get explain where it comes from. It was never in the first movies.

I just got back from watching Avatar 3, I didn't go see it sooner because my new well was coming in at Coyote Hills and I had to see about it. That well is now flowing at two thousand barrels and it's paying me an income of five thousand dollars a week. I have two others drilling and I have sixteen producing at Antelope; so, ladies and gentlemen, if I say I'm an oil man, you will agree. Now, you have a great chance here, but bear in mind, you can lose it all if you're not careful. Out of all men that beg for a chance to drill your lots, maybe one in twenty will be oilmen; the rest will be speculators - that's men trying to get between you and the oilmen - to get some of the money that ought by rights come to you. Even if you find one that has money and means to drill, he'll maybe know nothing about drilling and he'll have to hire the job out on contract, and then you're depending on a contractor who'll rush the job through so he can get another contract just as quick as he can. This is... the way that this works.

I agree, but I suppose I am more okay with the general "there's a shitload of magnetism" handwave.
>It was never in the first movies.
But floating mountains and giant rock structures molded into following magnetic fields have been.
So I am okay with now seeing some massive magnetic field in action, and with all the Na'vi not thinking it very important to remark upon while the humans are going "stay the fuck away from that, it will destroy our metal things."
>>
Only reason I might believe OP is because like four or five years ago someone here claimed to have gone to a screener of a few scenes showing
>human jungle boy that didn't need a mask for some reason
specifically mentioning the line
>It's not the size of the dog in the fight...
and he mentioned another scene showing people floating in capsules or something which I don't remember seeing in either the second or third movie.

>Quaritch kills the General woman who also had more scenes when he finds out about the terraformer
The final battle was also totally different but so different I can't really explain how, like it was guns versus guns instead of whatever the fuck the final version was which just felt like a remix of the first movie? I think the pacing and the redundant scenes would be more acceptable for a television format. If you took 2 and 3, and edited them into 8 or 45 minute episodes, it would probably be a pretty good season of television. I can't even watch Way of Water in one sitting.

Here is the old leak.

https://archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/212983050

This leak gets way, way, way, way too many details right. It is undeniable at this point that several key plot points were changed in reshoots and editing.

Originally the RDA wanted to terraform Pandora using something called BRIDGE. In the final film this project is never mentioned, and instead the RDA want to reverse engineer Spider's ability to breathe the air.

This plot point kinda comes out of nowhere when you think about it. What exactly was the RDA's plan before finding Spider? Surely they had some scheme. Well, the leak says they did have a scheme, and activating it caused the magnetic rifts in the third act.
>>

>>216952825

The big thing for me is that Avatar 3 fails to explain where Selfridge came from. What exactly did the RDA send him to do? In the leak, it is claimed he was in charge of a terraforming project and activating that project caused the magnetic rift. This makes sense. in the final cut he's just... back for some reason, then randomly decides to be in charge of the "figure out why Spider can breathe the air" project.

not sure if OP is srs but there did feel like a huge chunk of missing info in the movie. Why did the general suddenly need to go into battle against the whales? >>
>>216955004
I cant understand the reasoning behind taking it out either. It doesnt make sense to remove it if Cameron was worried 3 might be the last (cause if it was, then that plotline had more gravitas for a "final" movie) and I don't think it really makes sense that he decided to take it out and save it for movie 4 since that movie is already written and presumably has its own major climax to lead into 5.

my initial claim was correct, they practically nixed (read: a seconds-long mention in a 6+ hours of additional film is not sufficient) the whole basis for the expedition so they could take this from a standalone to a Marvel-esque series for people like you. I guess the yellow goo is easier to grok for your ilk and you think it's acceptable what they did to the plot. It's practically a retcon but that 30-second scene is enough for you to forgive it. How do I know?

I visited the DisneyWorld Ride for this and an auntie was in line with me. She was jumping up and down the entire time like she was about to cum. When the ride operator asked "any single riders?" she jumped up and down like a boomer at a Beatles concert screaming she was a single rider, she could get on the ride THAT much faster.

So if the movie was changed, it may have hurt the plot, but consider these Chinese aunties and what they need to see.

I think James Cameron should do a "Director's Cut" of these films. While that concept is absurd given his total control of this project, it's justified. The movies make so much fucking money he can do anything with them.
He can say the movies were fit for audience preferences (and given the money, he'd be right). But there's a "What I kinda wanted to do" version as well. I'd watch it.

If intelligent life can be found 4 light years away then it must be very common. This means that monkey mode even when supervised by a AI is a stupidly vulnerable position to put your species in. Someone is likely to come along and fuck you up.

Hm, seems that guy was for real. Lots of stuff lines up. And what's not in the movie lines up with the idea of a cut terraforming plot.
>>
>>216954023
>Too OP
>Impossible to explain how the ole gang get out of this one
I doubt the leak but if true I can see why they changed it as soon as they had another idea. Humans getting eywa Bluetooth allows for a future point where humans can learn to like be less mean and stuff (jeeze gosh) as both sides come to the logical middle; don't be fucking pussies but also not racis for the naavi, don't rape the land and love your blue cat wife for the humans.

Global terraforming tech is also incredibly overpowered and the only out would be humans using it on other planets and leaving Pandora as a backwater as the stars belong to them like the old meme. And if they didn't every movie would have to be "and then they built the terraforming machine... Again, for the 4th time. Quick save the 20% of Pandora not made habitable for humans yet!"

I think I like the new plot better than some magic laser beam. It's more heady and weird that the seeds have had this ability to make humans breathe the whole time. It suggests this innate connection between the two worlds and something counterintuitive for a god-world that doesn't want to be violated. There's an opportunity for the series to end with slow integration of humans to the Pandora eco-system, whereby they can return to earth with a changed spirit that will begin to heal that world.

>>
>>216949476
The cuts are quite visible and abrupt. I noticed that, when JakeSully and his family board the merchant vessel, get ambushed, crash, and then meet up with Quaritch and sleep on the beach, after they wake up, Quaritch is gone, and the very next shot is Quaritch trudging through the ash. We have no idea how he came there or why. It physically pained me to watch that part.
>>
>>216970386
There is obviously a ton of cut content from Wow & FaA. But we will probably never see it since the movies are already 3 hours long each, and no one really cares about them that much, and they certainly won't have a lasting impact, so no one will be asking for the 24 hour cut.

If this is true, that's so crazy to think about. Delay after delay, and then mere months away from release, Cameron gets a fully complete and watchable movie, goes back in to re-do half of it, and sloppily cuts everything together.

If this is all true, I just want to understand why the completed movie was changed and if we can have the option to watch that version. This irks me to the same level that i presume Snyderbros felt when they nagged for the release of the Snydercut. Except in this case its the director ruining his own work by second guessing it at the last minute?
>>

>when JakeSully and his family board the merchant vessel, get ambushed, crash, and then meet up with Quaritch and sleep on the beach, after they wake up, Quaritch is gone, and the very next shot is Quaritch trudging through the ash
what? They escape the ash na'vi through the swamp and wake up the next morning when the omaticaya arrive. Quaritch clearly runs into the forest so he doesn't just disappear between shots. Him going to the ash clan happens after a scene of him burning a village.

It would have made zero sense and is obviously made up. Eywa doesn't give you telekinetic powers, this isn't Star Wars.

The whole "leak" is just a bunch of guesswork based on the trailers and got only a few things right by chance. It's made up.

There's also absolutely no way a movie with visual effects this meticulous could be so drastically redone in just a few months. This isn't Marvelslop where they just hastily redo the CGI even though it ends up looking like unfinished shit.

This is the leak:
>The movie starts after the second one like instantly after and the fire people attack the water people. The human kid and the sully kids run off into the jungle during this attack (there's an even bigger boat this time) and the human kid's mask gets hit when he falls down this hill. Kiri uses some kind of magic to make him a Na'vi Human hybrid. Giant battle basically straight away I would say like fury road in terms of just mostly non stop action. Neytiri gets shot by Fire woman here and ends up in the human hospital back in the jungle.
It's possible the traders were added late in production and originally they were attacked directly. The film's sense of geography is a bit weird. Or else the leaker was just confused about what tribe was under attack.

>Native
What native? Caribbean natives were wiped out centuries ago.
>>
>>216983024
Ricans and Dominicans still have some native admixture, around 10 to 20% on average, even though the native population doesn't exist in the modern times.

To be fair, so many blacks passed through the Caribbean that you can make a native in the aggregate. In many photos Zendaya has fooled many Hispanics I know into thinking she's Hispanic.

My wife wanted to drag me to this fucking thing too. Women are conformists and "everybody is seeing it" so they have to as well. Thank God we ended up not going. Fuck this horrible goyslop.

what notes did you leave for cameron on the little card they gave you
>>

I'm pissed if this is true. Someone needs to meme this up enough to where the question gets passed on directly to Cameron.

If it's not true, then Cameron needs to at least release an extended cut or alternate cut with better pacing.
