These dead losers always had the shittiest, safest and most pretentious critiques. They filtered countless times.
Because it was fun to see them argue
>>216955603They basically agreed on everything so their arguments were forced non issues Fat fuck: Dumb and dumber was an absolute farceBald fuck:I disagree. I laughed one timeFat fuck: you're baldBald fuck :you're fat! That was every conversation these retards ever had
>>216955662hilarious!
You're just angry because Ebert likely trashed your favorite slop. Almost certainly a Lynchfag, too
>>216955662Sounds pretty funny to me. Nice reddit spacing btw.
The problem was how right they usually were, even if you liked the movie and didn't agree with them.
I found them entertaining and largely agree with eberts taste. Roger was more old school and pretentious
>>216955577i'm going to disagree with you here. these men provided a valuable service by helping you avoid the slop of the age.i miss gatekeeping so much. you will realize your time is nothing to throw away as its reserves dwindle down.
There were basically no other movie critics on TV. Gene Shalit and Leonard Maltin got some screentime on morning shows but S&E were the only ones with their own show.
>>216956519You also watched them to see the previews.
It's fun to see people talk about movies, whether you agree with them or not. They were guys who clearly loved movies and were passionate about them, it's interesting to get their perspectives and some banter.
>>216955577It was comfy.
>>216955662Sounds like must see TV circa 1992
>>216956519You left out Rex Reed
>>216955577It was before the internet. To find out what movies are coming out, you had to read the newspapers. There were also a fuckload more movies being made back then, including cheap B-movies. You needed people who can sift through the chaff for you.
>>216955577Ebert has a PULITZER for film criticism. Show some fucking respect. Beyond the TV shows they had, they wrote columns and essays and Ebert wrote books. His opinion was very important to actors and directors. I've missed him since the day he died.
>>216955662Actually Gene really championed the Farrelly Brothers and after he died they dedicated Something About Mary to him.
>>216956301I'm such an oldfag I remember when /b/ was the place to be. It wasn't ruined by logposting and wieners and "socials". What a cesspool now.
zoomers getting filtered by ebert loving quality anime again:::https://youtu.be/Il2l3hEEtdk
