It was/is used on gunships/helos to turn enemy troops into paste and ruin the day of basically everything in front of it.The name "mini-gun" refers to it being a smaller version of the M61 Vulcan which is used on jets and shit.It's used by Jesse "The Body" Ventura in Predator and Arnie in T2 to show how strong and badass they are because they can use a gun freehand that is supposed to mounted, which in Predator specifically demonstrates how much more of a threat the Predator itself is by comparison.Using the gun like that in real life though is WILDLY impractical, not just because of the weight of the gun itself, all the ammo, and the battery pack, but the rate at which it chews through rounds as this video demonstrateshttps://www.youtube.com/shorts/2B6hf87E3uQand of course how hard it is to aim, as you can see in this video where the recoil causes the guy to literally slide backward.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/B9Vj1-LFa4sBut of course real world issues are irrelevant because that gun is so fucking cool and Predator is one of if not THE most awesome movie ever made.
