I don't like the movie tbqh, it's a mistake imo to humanize the joker as a character. Like the movie tries to be sensible about mental health and put Arthur on an eye level with the audience. But imo the OG character itself should be be completely inhuman, a physical manifestation of chaos and so mentally ill that he's not even a person. The 2019 joker is closer to l'etranger, just a nihilist society that spits out a nihilist murderer with clown makeup, not batman's archnemesis.
