Explain how he's a misogynist at all. He saves an underage prostitute.
>>
He respectfully asks Cybil Shepard on a date, then takes her to a porn film.

I thought we just had the tism or something. What kind of retard watches porn with a woman on the first date? And with someone as respectable as Cybil?
>>
>>216963964
Did he know she was underage? I forgot.
>>

IIRC that was the second date, she took her to lunch in the first.

Travis hiring Iris is the most harrowing part of the movie for a new viewer because you worry for a moment that he's about to do something really evil for the first time
But he doesn't; he hires her to interrogate her about where her home is. It's a key part of his rescue plan.

I never got how he was a controversial or frightening or "villainous" character, everything he does in the movie is outright heroic. It's especially jarring when people compare him to Patrick Bateman or Hannibal. I try to be open minded about it but I really can't see how you can root against him, do you root against Charles Bronson in Death Wish?

He becomes a hero by accident. He was seconds away from assassinating a senator for no apparent reason
>>
>>216965263
Modern politicians (well, most) are all inherently evil, they directly support the oligarchy

>for no apparent reason

The movies point was that he was just violent and depending on who his violence is directed at he is a villain or a hero. It really comes down to who you kill.

the retarded retcon of the movie and claiming its 'feminist" is probably argued by saying that the women are the real victims in the story and characters like iris have it worse than travis, but even then its kind of stupid. all this bullshit cultural marxist talk came after and obviously wasn't an ingredient of the film, although it does seem to be about male loneliness and alienation leading to destruction, he eventually aims it at legit targets (he originally planned to assassinate the politician, which would have been bad), if they really want to do the toxic masculinity angle, where he takes everything out on "society" he would have killed the politician or shot up his workplace or some bullshit.
