>>216965888I wouldn't call 1 billion a flop, but go on and tell me how Superman was the most successful movie of the year
>>216966117capitalism bad tree hugging good>t. Billionaire ancient directorman
>>216967070You’re brown and even though it’s been told a billion times studios get a way smaller percentage overseas you are too stupid to ever get it. Studios only get 25% in China so the 100 million it made in China, the studio only gets 25 million of it
>>216966074>Because 5 minutes with Grok will generate a better movie. But who's going to watch it? If it's ever that easy to make blockbuster movies then they would all drown each other out via saturation.
>>216967145Anon, this movie is not being released by some rinky dink indie studio having to cobble together funding from twenty distributors and partners. It's being released by Disney. They are getting exactly what they want from distributors globally because they ARE the distributor. The China thing is specifically unique to China because of their authoritarian government that imposes a strict limit on foreign films being allowed to screen in the country per year and leans on their gross in order to promote their domestic film industry. Studios bite the bullet and take the hit there if they can because of the possibility of a breakout success in the massive population there still being lucrative even with the Chinese government's cut.
