Is it worth it? He is the greatest director alive after all…
>>
>>216969305
only the first three or four films are from actual 4k restorations
the rest are 2k upscales
you might as well wait for those early films to get standalone editions
>>
It looks like shit. Why would someone want what looks like a shoebox on their shelf. Didn't they take into consideration that the only reason people by this stuff is for it to look neat on their shelf?

If you enjoy the films of Wes Anderson, and especially if you enjoy them enough to shell out for this, then you would appreciate the library archive aesthetic.
>>
>>216969411
that's just the shipping box.
you're supposed to put the booklooking thing on the dvd shelf in your soicave
>>
>>216969305
Wait a while and pick up the set on sale or used. I only enjoy a few of his films. Meanwhile, there's still no Freddy Got Fingered bluray... Criterion!
>>
>>216969305
Damn is Criterion going broke? Looks like shit!
>>
>>216969305

>10 films for £400

Daylight robbery, sincerely hope these things have to be reduced to clear.
Wes Anderson is a piece of shit for even agreeing to this narcissistic abomination.
>>
>>216969728
And it doesn’t even include his latest film lol
>>
Meanwhile this thing is only $240
>>
>>216969787

I take it little Wes never worked retail, or did but was too artistic to understand how the real world works. If he included the latest for free and charged a reasonable price for the set it would actually be selling, and boosting sales for the latest one.
>>
Where is the Paul W.S. Anderson set?
>>
>>216969305
Of course it's fucking orange and green and made to look like the third volume of a history of parish names.
>>
>>216969305
Only if you can picture yourself in this picture.
>>
>all the discs look the same
Lame collectors item
>>
pretty gay to buy a big expensive box set of a director who's still making movies.
>>
>>216969787
>>216969900
Universal has his latest film in print
no reason to license it to Criterion and get cucked out of their money
>>
>>216970023
No one watched it though
>>
>>216969849
That’s their best set. The Fellini one is good, too.

Oh I was talking about the asteroid one, didn’t even know he had another.

>Bresson
>Truffaut
>Goddard
>Welles
>Lynch
Idk why they’re doing living directors. Pretty stupid.
>>
>>216969900
He and the Wilson brothers grew up together as rich boys in Texas. He was probably that snooty rich dickhead kid who harassed book and record store workers and they put up with him because he spent a lot of money at the store. Guarantee you he was like that dweeb from Rushmore as a teenager.
>>
>>216970755
Being a poorshit is beneath me.
>>
>>216969305
Why would you buy one of these if the director isn’t dead yet? He could always release another film and then it won’t match or be included
>>
>>216969305
Asteroid City was him at his worst, obnoxious, awful, turned it off after 45 minutes. Phoenician Scheme was much better, very good performances, better overall story, lots of heart, in his top 5 for me. I think he has several more great films in him.
>>
>>216970862
His 3 latest films already aren’t included. It was never meant to be a complete set.
>>
>>216970799
I'll be first in line for a Robert Altman Criterion box set like this.
>>
>>216969305
This will be incomplete the moment he announces his next flick.
>>
>>216970802
This rings true but for one detail; being an enthusiast is not harassment. One would hope the wage earners at bookstores and record shops appreciate a customer who is passionate about their wares.
>>
>>216970906
The one before AS was god-awful, The French Dispatch. Besides the naked beauty of Seydoux, garbage. Asteroid City was at least visually nice to watch and interesting enough.
>>
>>216970805
If you weren't poor you would have a 200Tb+ home server of movies
>>
>>216970922
that would be a dream come true but Altman has plenty of films stuck with the mouse including major ones like M*A*S*H and 3 Women
>>
>>216970952
Fair point. Also younger Wes seems a lot cooler than who he became, before he flew a burnt orange and goldenrod colored vintage balloon up his own ass.

3 Women is on Criterion
They don’t have Mash or Nashville though
>>
>>216970980
Fine. I'll take a 4K remaster blu ray deluxe Criterion edition of O.C. and Stiggs then.
>>
>>216969305
No, bc your fucking collection is going to look like this plus a bunch of loose discs from the movies he hasn't made yet. This leaves no room to expand on it as he continues to work. It’s going to be a very untidy, un-WesA like mess on that shelf anon.
>>
>>216969480
It’s the best, you’ve just failed to appreciate it, bc you are a failure at life, the universe, and everything.

In the dumpster where it belongs. I mean jfc Paul really fell to the depths of film and stayed there.
>>
>>216971191
Nice. This is the best teen comedy of the 1980s.
>>
>>216969471
Polanski… now that’d make a good box set.
>>
>>216970906
I was so hoping for a wes anderson flick set on a space ship or station, some mid century space age set that matched the advertising of the day, playing around with the habitrail-like cramoed environment, with semi-fictional astronomical phenomena like the fish in life aquatic.

For a brief few months I was so excited that asteroid city was going to be that. Instead, we got… that. Hm. Well shit he’s not going to turn around and do space flick any time soon now is he. I hope I get to see one at some point before the cancer gets me.

Of the ones I've seen, only Grand Budapest Hotel was any good, so no.
>>
>>216971007
Indeed, he does seem to have fallen off. Grand Budapest was concerning, and the French Dispatch was so poor that I skipped Asteroid City. I heard he is back on track with Phoenician Scheme but I still have not made time for it.

If you ask me, trading Owen Wilson for the likes of Noah Baumbach etc. as a writing partner was the beginning of the end for WA.

Hanging with Wes and Owen at UT must have been based.

>>216971268
Oh I have his collection already:
Tails of groupies and roses
Starfucker Starfucker Starfucker Star
Teenage buttsluts 15
Anal creampie party
Backdoor Loli’s in the backroom
Hot Dog in the Buns
Butt thats where my doggy goes!
Short Trips: quick stop on the A train
Cream in the buns: How I fucked up my whole life (but it was totally worth it omfg)

Moonrise Kingdom is goated, as the kids say. Zissou is also charming.
>>
>>216969305
Hm…

Hell Yes: The Life Aquatic (maybe fave movie innawhirled)
Yes: Moonrise Kingdom, GBH, Royal Tenenbaums
Meh: The rest

Still those 4 are strong enough he’s in my top 3 living filmmakers.
>>
>>216969305
> made it look like books to appeal to the performative minds of wes anderson fans
>>
>>216971007
He did start out somewhat normal, he just got sorta storybooky going from Rushmore to royal tenenbaums, and then dove in with both feet on Life Aquatic, which was perfect for that bc it’s an emotionally mature story but set in a jacques cousteau fantasy adventure, so the whole thing has a pretty loose relationship with reality.

But then ok, Moonrise is great if you were ever in the scouts as a kid bc the memories of that are pretty strange & questionable like the film. & GBHotel is the point where he pushes his cardboard cutout storybook style about as far as it can go. …before French Duspatch & Ass City are just too unrealistic they come off stilted and contrived. Phonecian dials it back and at least stays in photographic reality but idk, maybe Wes just has to find his stride again after Wilson.

Not sure what happened to he & Wilson but the two created some perfectly balanced art.
>>
>>216969305
Why would they make a box set when he is still making movies?

That's your opinion. I like some of his stuff, but I disagree.

Straight guys do too. I’ve buttfucked every girl ive ever dated. Someday you’ll marry some pretty little thing who only does vaginal and youkll be so impressed in her white wedding dress looking pure as the driven snow and it’ll only be bc you don’t know that twice a day for months i worked a vibrator in her vag while I rammed meat up her ass and pumped her full of my genetic filth while denying her the pleasure of the mental possibility of fetilization. You poor fuck.
