How come the republic in Star Wars still had monarchies?
>>
Because Lucas is a fucking hack
>>
The Republic is a confederacy with individual planets retaining their own governments. The real question is
>how naboo is a monarchy when monarchs are regularly elected with fixed terms
>>
>>216969943
Member planets were allowed whatever system of government they chose. The Republic wasn't some faggot nanny state like the federation from star trek that won't let their members have a caste system or slaves or rape gangs.

They probably have some connection with the church and hereditary power. Poland elected its kings for lifelong terms.

Because she isn't Queen of the Republic but of Naboo
>>216970096
There are plenty of historical elected monarchies, it isn't that strange.

Elected monarchies are ok, elected monarchies with fixed terms are republics, even Malaysia draws their elected king from a body of hereditary sovereigns. She was a commoner elected democratically, with a fixed term. By definition that's a republic.

Monarchy is the best form of government. Pretty much all republics are effectively monarchies run by the same few aristocratic families, all this gay pretense about democracy is dumb.

I don’t fucking know, dude

>The gowns owned by Amidala were kept on Naboo for many years after her death. Eventually, the gowns found their way to Organa.

>However, the gowns were thrown into hyperspace by Terex of the First Order after he stole Organa's ship on Cato Neimoidia.

RIP

The same reason monarchies are members of the United Nations in real life.

>First Order
not a thing

term limits are not the defining feature of republics retard
>>
>>216969943
the galaxy was a republic but the planets were sovereign and largely ran themselves as they saw fit
but then again "Princess" wasn't much a job since Padme was "elected" to be a term limit princess and later she became a space senator
>>
>>216970096
Better question
Who the fuck elects a 14 year old to be their fucking leader? Shit she isn't even the youngest one they elected.
>>
>>216973720
Term limits are not features of monarchies fuckwit
>>
>>216973271
The Force Awakens happened, chud.
>>
>>216973890
Not true. The British PM has a term limit even though it’s a monarchy.
>>
>>216973961
The PM and the King aren't the same person.
Holy shit you fucking dumb fucker.
>>
>>216969943
Least faggy and pedantic Star Wars thread
>>
>>216974018
The actual answer is that republican leaders are representative leaders, while monarchs are sovreign themselves. For the Nabooeian system to work, it would require that former monarchs may not have the legal power they had, but they are still immune from the law of the state they led.
>>
>>216969943
whiteoids are like "democracy is the best system" while complaining about no kiddies, no culture and a completely pillaged society that doesn't make anything except coffee shops
