I thought Priests couldn't have children. Or make money?

Catholic priests are not supposed to have kids, they're supposed to mimic Jesus and his celibacy, but plenty have and there's lots of leway there to be had. Especially if the child was an adult and didn't need the support of the father.

Priests are paid by the church and there's nothing disallowing them from having an inheritance.

Technically you cannot *get* married or have children or make money after you are ordained. It is possible to be ordained as a Catholic priest if you are already married or have children, money, etc. It's just very very rare and this movie just skimmed over it for plot convenience
