How'd they get away with a brown eyes guy playing James Bond? Tf?
>>
The Long Goodbye is by far and away the king of this. Elliott Gould casually lights a match against a wobbly piece of plexiglass while walking past it at one point.

Best pick. He's so fucking cool in that movie.
>>
>>216977008
Gould sucks as marlowe
>>
>>216977008
Want to watch this, but I'm not sure it's going to hold a candle to Chandler's novel...

Also, Elliott Gould seems like a weird casting choice, but I'm only familiar with him as an older actor

‘Good night and good luck’ burned enough tobacco to get a platoon of paratroopers through Bastogne.

It is bad casting, he kind-of looks the part but has that neurotic Jewish rambling they doesn't fit marlowe at all. Bogart had the best look for the part but I think mitchums is a better match on the personality, too old though unfortunately. There's never been a perfect marlowe on screen

Ginger just gave him meth cut with LSD right before. He took cocaine earlier that day. That's how someone trying really hard to keep their cool as UC 5-0 would react.

Movies by Wong Kar-Wai and John Woo (and most other HK cinema from the 90s) have a lot of smoking.
