I think that the gore is necessary to contrast the picturesque aesthetic of 1950's U.S. as well as keeping with the games being mature rated. Been playing fallout since 3, my mom knew someone who was married to the dev team or something and I also got the new Vegas special edition with the chips and cards and comic and shit but that's been lost to time. Grew up kinda poor so I honestly still to this day haven't played any of the DLC for any of em, and I've gotten semi far in 4 but I've never beat it. Right now I'm trying to play through halo, which I was never into as a kid because I had PlayStations and Dreamcasts but it's... Alright. The shield and one hit thing kinda makes the game feel slow to me. Anyways, here we go. I hope harold is referenced. Oh yeah I have all of them now but I've never really gotten too far into any of em. I think I'll try again if this show rouses it outta me.

I don't think the characters themselves believed the Vault Boy bullshit. It wasn't the tone the series had after the apocalypse. It was somber, the contrast of the world in which nearly everyone died and those old tapes and posters with guidelines that ultimately didn't work for shit because they were just a lie.

I don't remember much about the dialogues themselves, I played like 5 different fallout games dozens if not hundreds hours each, but I don't remember it being full of poop dick vagina humor. I remember angry people protecting their own scarce resources and some absurdity here and there, but like I said, the series here mistakes absurdity and irony for slapstick humor and irreverent sex jokes. All filmed like it's a comedy. Fuck them.
Maybe Fallout 2 was a bit more humurous...? 3 and 4 are dark as fuck with their main quest, 4 has nearly zero humor as far as i remember, New Vegas might have had a joke here and there because of the setting (Vegas...) but overall these games are depressing, if the writers had played them they'd know.

The vibe of Fallout is listening to the radio, some shit line "I don't want to set the world on fire" as you walk through the ruins of civilization, radioactive rain pours, and there's ghouls or other monsters lurking nearby ready to tear you apart, it's an oppressive dark feeling and the Vault Boy popping up in a screen here or there isn't a le funny moment.

But Fallout 2 was also far more zany in its sense of humour, and as a result, it planted the first, mutated seed in the wasteland that would eventually grow into the zany Fallout TV series.

It is very obvious that the legion is going to get wiped out in its entirety like the NCR will in episode 3 or 4. Watch the trailer again and you will see the fort being bombed to oblivion.

The plot will obviously be a brotherhood of steel ex machina to save Lucy. They will humiliate the legion and erase them from the setting permanently. Then it will segue into the “civil war” between the brotherhood.

The legion annihilation scene will be a callback to the fallout 4 scene where you leave the bunker and the prydwen arrives. It will also symbolically be the victory of Toddout over Interplay’s prior world more than anything else.

It gets a lot of things right, but some things not so much. Unfortunately aiming and largely succeeding at accuracy to the source material is a double edged sword: The more nitpicky fans will pick it apart and judge it harshly, while the more open minded fans gloss over the few details it gets wrong and just think "holy shit this literally looks like Fallout and gets almost everything right and it's actually good TV on top of that". The latter leads to the show becoming part of the game canon, which pisses off the nitpicky fans even more, dividing fans of the games further. Ironically it would've probably been healthier for the fanbase if the show was a typical adaptation, where everything is different for no reason and nobody even thinks about whether it fits into the canon or not.

Were the fallout games even popular before 4? I can't remember that many people really talking about 3 back in 2010 or so when GOTY copies on sale were a thing. Really feels weird that this series got big enough to become mass culture products shows that bored grandma would find to watch. Hell I feel NV trailers at launch was a big thing but you had to be a bit of a RPG nerd to care. Seeing the twitch streamer crowd come out of nowhere with 4 launch felt like the cat was out of the bag. Shit. That era from 2013 to 2016 felt like eternal september of video games.

It feels like they're shoving so much filler in these episodes. Take the scene when the father is testing the rats and then the cryo guy. We don't really learn anything new and no new developments occur its just "hey this guy is goofy level evil, remember?" with the spectacle of things getting their heads blown up as he's testing the mind control device while doing nothing different between tests which ends up yielding the same results over and over again. All those scenes feel pointless and oddly disconnected from any actual moving plot line ending up being mostly a waste of time but normies probably just eat up that surface level entertainment and high production value like pigs at a trough and think nothing else of it.
