Chuds explain why this is ok but Nolan's Oddysey isn't?
>>216984380His armor doesnt look like plastic.
Nolan is a hack. It should have been Mel Gibson.
>>216984380Hot babesBrad PittColorsThe best one on one fight in a sword & sandal filmNuff said
>>216984414>It should have been Mel Gibsonhe's working on something more interesting
>>216984380because this is the Iliad, not the Odyssey where Agamemnon isn't even alive. jesus did americans ever open a book?!
>>216984380it had sovl
>>216984431You forgot no blacks
>>216984380The Director's cut of this is such kino I pity the people who's only seen the theatrical cut
>>216984380old = good
This looks good. Nolan film looks lazy. It’s aesthetically ugly and boring.
>>21698443190s anime were AI slop?
>>216984431>The best one on one fight in a sword & sandal filmWas going to argue but swashbuckling is its own thing, so all the fencing fights from the 50s dont count.
Troy is a shit movie too honestly.
>>216984380Chud here. Even though Troy falls short in a LOT of ways (especially in regards to dealing with the gods) it will still be better than Nolan (hack's) Odyssey for several reasons:>the costume and set designYes, the armor still isn't accurate for the Bronze Age (even though Homer describes armor in the Iliad as Classical armor and was not accurate either) but it looks good. What Nolan has done with the costumes is create something that is neither historically accurate nor aesthetically pleasing, so what value is there? The sets also look miles better than what Nolan has presented. Nolan is obsessed with brutalism, an architectural style that did not exist at the time of the ancient Greeks and is completely antithetical to Greek aesthetic sensibilities. Brutalism has only ever worked well for ONE film (Jurassic Park), and ancient Greece is not the place for it, the square columns alone are a ridiculous affront to good taste.>the colorNolan must be a dog because he can only see grey. The Iliad and the Odyssey are filled with color and colorful descriptions, but Nolan is incapable of producing anything with color in it. Troy, on the other hand is a very colorful film, and is well lit, unlike anything Nolan has presented. >the castStop right there twitter tranny. No the Greeks weren't black, the first time Helen is mentioned she is described as pale and white, and Achilles has blond hair. By this regard Troy is actually way more accurate in casting than Nolan. Race shit aside (and it is important), the cast Nolan chose are all nepobabies that he chose because he worked with them before. Yes, Troy has Brad Pitt, Sean Bean and Orlando Bloom but it had plenty of classically trained non-movie star actors and wasn't just filled with the director's friends and the latest capeshit stars.
>>216984380superior aesthetics and color, and that's without actually watching Nolan's Odyssey
>>216986267>Brutalism has only ever worked well for ONE film (Jurassic Park)Fine screed but this is one too far. Plenty of dystopian sci-fi makes excellent use of brutalism. Blade Runner, Equilibrium, even things like Beetlejuice and Bill and Ted's Bogus Adventure. You could even hold your nose and throw in some of Villeneuve's minimalist crap. They can be used well in political thrillers, also. Any time you want to give the impression of your main character up against the cold juggernaut of a system. It's a wonderful aesthetic for that: a giant, unfeeling mass all will fall under.
>>216984380Great one-on-one fight scenes. The one between Paris and Menelaus is probably my favorite ever, because it feels like an actual struggle with every thrust or bash having weight behind it.
>>216984380It looked cool and most in the cast were total hunks or babes.
>>216986193I heard it won so many Oscars
>>216986661the cast is good, but as an adaptation it's shit, and while some of the costumes are good the actual dialogue and story is very poor. Such a great cast wasted on a bad script.
>>216986441>You could even hold your nose and throw in some of Villeneuve's minimalist crap.I actually couldn't do that, sorry.
>>216984380whats a chud
>>216984380troy gets shat on a lot thoughbeight. You'd think they'd have that in mind when making a similar movie, but I guess getting your props from spirit halloween works too
It's way closer to the Armour described in the books, at least in spirit, than Nolanslop
>>216984380>Still calling others 'chuds' in 2025Get some new material faggot.
>>216986267>The sets also look miles better than what Nolan has presented. Nolan is just a hack.
>>216984380Nolan is very dull, bland, boring, flavorless, soulless. Troy, for all its faults, at least tried something with the design of the armor and sets. The casting, especially of prime Brad Pitt as Achillies, was excellent, all around great performances.

>>216987862I really liked Immortals. Tarsem Singh has a real eye for style and beauty. I remember people mocking it at the time bc it looked like a cologne commercial, but he tried to make everything look beautiful. Also, if anyone wants to get into the actual Homer epics, go get the Robert Fagles translation AND read the forwards of them. They are really easy to read; he does a good job translating them to make them as poetic and blunt as they were meant to be. Also, check out "The Mighty Dead" after you read both. Its a good way to digest everything you read.
>>216984380Can somebody post the scene where Achilles gives his motivational speech to his fuckboy?
>>216984380
>>216986267>Troy falls short in a LOT of ways (especially in regards to dealing with the gods)filtered, that wasn't the point of Troy
>>216984380It’s white people exclusively movie
I never liked Troy
Troy is one of my favourite movies of all time
>>216990074It was the point of the original story it was adapting.
>>216984380THE ARMOR DOESN'T LOOK LIKE SHIT
