Huge packs of people start rioting, taking people hostage, and destroying buildings. They have to go into a government building that's overrun with masked rioters to save the fired girl. Other cops are getting kidnapped and their cars destroyed. But everyone gets away at the end. Next episode addresses nothing about this. They barely mention the show premise or name any of his costars, it's mostly about the challenges, how he got there and the prerequisites. He never pretends the show is great, just that doing that job means combining being a screenwriter with enough production knowledge and social skills to tard wrangle 300 people and keep the production company happy. He points out a couple of things: 1, the show's unusual in its ratings actually rising in its 5th season when most shows nosedive and 2, the largest age group watching is somewhere between 10 and 13. I don't think that was their intention. Hawley came to TR because he'd already done procedurals before. The premise is based on a real LAPD cop who was the oldest rookie, someone recently unemployed who was doing business at a bank branch when it got robbed and it inspired him to join law enforcement.
