So why didn’t anyone bring a machete or sword to fight the demogorgons with? They’ve proven very resilient against both gunfire and blunt weaponry, and to a lesser extent even fire takes a long while to kill them. In season 4 hopper chopped one up with one and it seemed to work pretty well. While a proper sword would not be easy to acquire in Hawkins surely someone could’ve found a couple billhooks or machetes, even very long knives would be better than nothing. The long, well-balanced chopping or slashing blade seems the perfect weapon to use against soft fleshy creatures. While we see people use axes they’re unnecessarily heavy and I think the shorter blade length would make it harder to get a good hit and with the demogorgons you really wanna slice their limbs off and chop them to pieces.
