Would they have survived if Sarah had smashed the chip?

I wanna say fuck no just because now there's nobody with a grenade launcher to save them in the lava factory
That said, they have one chance if they avoid a confrontation entirely and just disappear into Mexico again or something - I've never seen any evidence a Terminator can actually solve informal underground shit, they depend so much on organized data like phone books and police records

If you were paying cash to sleep in a shithole in a favela it's really difficult to see how a Terminator would find you, given the set of skills they demonstrate onscreen and not headcanon ones

If Sarah smashed the chip she'd have never learned of Dyson, so she'd never go to LA to try and kill him, and thus never decided to try and blow up Cyberdyne again, so they wouldn't have ended up in the Steel Mill anyway. But that's the crux of it, could Sarah resist the urge to try and stop Judgement Day or would she commit to disappearing?
Also would the T-1000 try to pursue John or would it embed itself into LA and try to lay a trap? Would it join up with law enforcement/The Feds to try and gain access to records and instigate a global manhunt?

Deleted scenes aren't Canon.

The special edition is more canon than you are.
