Why are so many of these characters basically dead and losing relevance or having shit movies or tv series and lounging around in development hell? What is/are your pitch/pitches to get these great characters and series rolling again?
Why don't we just make new fucking IPs good enough to become iconic for generations, like these fellas did.For fuck's sake, Hollywood...even if it's a franchise you like, WHY would you even bother watching any of that shit? I like SpongeBob, but it's been shit since 2005, I'm not watching that new fucking movie.HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO JUST MAKE SOMETHING ORIGINAL AGAIN, pretty hard by the looks of the attempts, that's why they're doing this, cause it's safe, plays into nostalgia and is easier to wank out
John Kramer / Jigsaw / Tobin bell is 83, let him rest He was great in SAW X thoughbeit
>>216986708Yeah it is crazy to think of the series really being strong without him but he is up there in years. I guess that is why people have been talking about doing the JigAI Concept or the JigShe Idea.
>>216986392That's okay.
>>216986234Those characters replaced universal monsters as horror icons. They too have a shelf life and they are way past it. Teens that are the primary audience of those movies were born years after any of those series were any good.
Okay here it goes:>In a rare move, the District Attorney agrees for three co-defendants to be tried in the same trial. Hoffman, Dr. Gordon, and Logan are facing "justice" for their roles as Jigsaw's apprentices and their participation in the activities labeled as crimes by the state. The case has become a massive spectacle among the media and online true-crime podcast types, and the three defendants have been appropriately dubbed "the Jig3". As the court case progresses, we see a series of flashbacks. As a flashback ends, we see that the flashback story was being told by one of the survivors of one of the Jig3's tests. As the trial progresses, tensions escalate at an incredible pace and that has nothing to do with the media and podcasters trying to break down the doors to the court room and ambush key figures in the proceedings at the end of each day. While they initially appear to present a unified front, the Jig3 soon appear to be turning on each other. But there's a lingering sense that nothing in this trial is as it seems, and we soon discover that these court proceedings are connected to the twisted posthumous will and legacy of none other than John Kramer himself.
>>216987106Five Nights at Freddy's is pretty shit though.
Crazy how they haven't made an actually good Freddy movie in forever. There is so much potential there.
>>216988709I mean, Freddy vs. Jason 2... Is it really too much to ask?
>>216986679Have you not heard of The Conjuring Cinematic Universe?
>>216989438It's okay but kind of bland to be honest. I would venture so far as to say that the Nun 2 is the best of the movies.
>>216986679This a billion times. What was the last iconic character on the same level of those?I'm old enough to remember Samara and Jigsaw as new things.Jack Sparrow? Thanos? Does Joker count?
>>216989507When you think about it it is crazy that he has dominated the horror genre for like 20 years.
>>216986234M2gan mogs all of them
>>216990000Saving her series is basically dependent on getting her into someone else's CU at this point.
>>216986234Perhaps we need new killers instead of endlessly rehashing and running a handful of them into the ground.
>They’re not relevant we can’t milk them for money. What are we going to do?
>>216989741Only if you ignore how middling success was enough to “dominate the genre”
>>216990081Wallstreet says that’s not the safe bet. We need scream 9
>>216990144I mean I wouldn't call reliably making about 10x your budget through theatrical alone and being the dominant horror icon for two decades middling.
At least they're still making slasher movies and the like. Monsterchads are stuck with shit like Jack Black's Metaconda.
>>216990570Yeah fuck Metaconda!
>second movie flops>cancel release of SoulM8te and give up on M3gCU>realize there's just no one like him>"Please, please...please let me into your CU!"
>>216989325Why don't they just make this movie? It is like a guaranteed money maker!
>>216992101It would be great to see them kill all of the Stranger Things kids. All of them. Unceremoniously in five minutes and then move on to actual Content.
>>216988709>There is so much potential there.True, but for it to be actually good you need some creative talent to make good use of the dreamworld. The old movies, even if the writing is mixed, all have pretty good visuals and practical effects. People always say that CGI is cheaper and less time consuming than practical, but pretty much all the Elm Street movies were made on a modest budget and in a very short time. The problem is a lack of talent/creativity. That is why we will probably never get another good movie.
>>216993308I think I could come up with a good script for one. But there is a weird filter system where you probably aren't going to get through even if your stuff is good.
>>216993308It's crazy to think how relatively cheap the SFX for Freddy coming through the wall was in the original but it kicked the ass of the same visual in the reboot and still looks fantastic.
Just make good movies! Is it really so hard?
>>216986835the only person talking about that dumb shit is you, faggot.
These horror villains will end up flowing away down the river of time like the Universal Monsters.
>>216995068You are stupid and out of touch but I would never ask you to change.
sorry chudslashers are out.bone-chilling spine-tingling character-development-driven atmospheric slow-burn horror films with no jumpscares are IN.
>>216988709I want to see Freddy turn into a bus and run down a bunch of zoomers fr fr
