Can we agree that this was kinda shitty?

Not even flamebating here i did enjoy the spectacle, but it really felt like the story got rewritten shortly before release or something, some scenes felt like straight up deleted or remixed scenes from 2 and some other stuff was hinted at but then dropped immediately, like that weird electronagnetic flux thing or the weapons collecting etc etc

now that the dust has settled I forgot I've seen it
>>
>>216992375
Why did you watch it to begin with, faggot?
>>
Probably my favorite avatar movie. Easily on top 3 at least
>>
>>216992397
Because i enjoyed the previous two and i wanted to form my own opinion by, yknow, watching the actual movie you absolute faggotnigger?
>>
>>216992469
One of the avatar movies of all time.
>>
>>216992375
it's quite strange how similar it is to Way of Water. It didn't really introduce anything new other than Pandora being able to turn any lifeform into a Navi-type lifeform, and a legit VR afterlife that i guess ALL Navi get when they die, which is fucking funny because i guess the Navi who are vaporized by a bomb don't get it??
weird fucking movie, especially because of the Spider plot (that no one cares about) wherein Jake straight up is about to murder an innocent young man who is like an adopted son to him. Fucking strange man.

I really enjoyed it. Tied, or very close to it, with the first one as my favorite Avatar movie. Already saw it twice and might see a third time before it leaves theaters.
>>
It's fine. You'll have a good time. "Muh cultural impact" is memeshit on par with "media literacy".

You can enjoy something without it being a life-altering experience.
>>
>>216992714
the VR afterlife was in the first movie
>>
It is shitty. Bad writing, pacing, terrible acting and dialogue. Even the spectacle is a retreading of previously seen stuff. Flying caravans sequence is about 5 minutes, ash na'vis are underdevelopped and just live in huts.

People have a hard time realizing how bad it is because they rewatch the Varang/Quaritch scenes again and again (10 minutes out of 3 hours)
>>
>>216992714
And living Na'vi can just visit them in that VR world and say hi at any time too, so those that end up dead without a body that can be send to the AYYWHA VR database is basically eternally screwed.

But yeah it didn't even show any lava or much of fire at all, instead it was 80% water again and basically all the same stuff that already happened in the first two movies happened again. The only new stuff were the wind traders that appeared for like 5 minutes and the volcanic ash land that appeared for 2 minutes.
>>
>>216992375
It was the shortest 3h17min I've ever had in a movie theater. The action is impeccable, the visuals are on a completely different level from what anyone else is doing, the characters and plot are mostly just servicable but Quaritch and Varang were actual kino
>>
>>216992950
This is a good summary. Pretty much what I thought about it.

Cameron can't into storytelling that's why everone forgot about these flicks as soon as they left the theatre. That's why they have zero (0) cultural impact.
>>
>>216992375
Haven’t seen the two sequels yet. Do they include the ponytail sex, or was that cut out?
>>
>>216992469
My favorite Avatar movie is M. Night Shyamalan’s.
>>
>>216992375
It was terrible. It was so bad, that when the credits started, I yelled how much it sucked for about 2 mins. The whole theater basically agreed with me.
>>
>>216993673
Number 3 includes ponytail rape.
>>
It's very odd that things are happening on screen but feels like nothing burger everytime. Should've made sure each individual movie would be good instead of a 5-quel.

now that the dust has mean by this, what settled?
>>
>>216992714
Felt like the movie replaced a plot with sketches inbetween action scenes, theres a young male attempted suicide, racist partner coming to terms with her mixed race family, quaritch's whole local tail thing, jake and quaritch apocalypse now monologue, the killdozer guy
>>
>>216993673
Varang uses ponytail rape on multiple people, male and female
>>
>>216992856
it was more subtle than literally just plugging your hair in and being able to just hang out in a paradise with your family members
>>
>>216994846
euwo wasn't fully awakened in 2
>>
>>216992950
the Varang shit was boring because Quaritch or however you spell it pretty much just instantly fell in love with her
>>
>>216994903
She used sorcery
>>
>>216994988
Pussy sorcery.

I have a theory that 2 and 3 started as the same movie, but got split, which is why the climax nearly the same for both.

Overall, I liked it. The Avatar movies have a sense of purity to them I enjoy.
>>
>>216995521
I need a Varang and nightwraith Lego set
>>
>>216992375
I saw it in Imax 3D, started zoning out and forgetting that it was in 3D, except when they kept changing the frame rate from one camera cut to another, which was really fucking jarring and annoying. If you're gonna film at high frame rate just fully commit to it.
Just felt like a boring retread of Way of Water, I was utterly bored by the 2nd hour.
The one redeeming quality is if you imagine that the city they're trying to build on Pandora is Israel
>>
>>216994903
>Varang instantly fell in love with him (and had a small orgasm) when he held a gun to her head and pulled her hair
>Resisting her mind struggle snuggle made them for all intents and purposes married
>Tent scene was 1 take of Oona
You mistyped cinema anon

I think she got sopping wet when she shot the rifle, and then actually orgasmed when she shot the flame thrower.
>>
There is no story arc for Varang. She just kinda disappears and gets forgotten about at the end. What a shit film.
>>
>>216992469
I would hope the third movie would be in your top three avatar movies.
>>
Somebody needs to kick James Cameron very hard in the balls. Maybe it will fix his brain and we can finally get a live action blockbuster flick from him again. It's been 30 years now.
>>
>>216992375
No
The air traders were great
The chase through the jungle was great
Neyney infiltrating bridgehead was great
The whales doing a bellyflop on the RDA's boats was great
There are so many great things about this movie
>>
>>216992375
I liked it better than the second, there was more and better action and I liked the sequence in the "city"
