The Alien franchise really has so much wasted potential. There are good ideas in almost all of the films but then there's at least one really stupid decision dragging the whole story down.

Aliens fucked up the franchise first. Turned the alien into a mindless bug. Instead of a being a self sustaining organism it needed a queen. Dispelled any notion of the horrors that lurk in the corner of space. At least 3 tried to get things back on track.
