It makes me sad that this show was apparently silently canceled. They used to churn out episodes at an astonishing race, then it slowed a bit, and now they're apparently just burning off random unaired episodes, presumably before it gets relegated to nothing more than reruns.

The problem with using other materials is that steel is just too good. Bronze, brass, iron would just be flimsy in comparison. Its why we don't use that shit anymore to make weaponry. You'd have nothing but straight up failures every episode. None of the contestants would move forward

You're asking for a fantasy. All that crap didn't work well. If you wanted to hunt a bear you were better off shaving a stick to a point and carbonizing the tip in fire instead of making something elaborate out of bone. It was cheaper, less labor intensive and it worked. Grab a couple buddies, make a few, kill the bear. Lead it into a trap first so its fucked up and even slower and easier to kill. Don't even get started on the retardation of meso American weaponry. If someone from the future dropped machetes off the rack from a home improvement store into the hands of mayans in the past they'd be 1000 times more efficient at killing people than with the crap they were using.
