Also other things like still having the CGI done by an American company instead of being farmed out to chinks/jeets. It was riding the wave of tasteful grittiness/realism before it peaked with The Dark Knight and now everything has to be tacitcool gritty dark realism. Also got in before millennial basedish quidmedia.Basically it was the right people at the right time. You can't recreate that formulaically.

Even “schlock” from back then seems like gold now. Recently watched pirates of the Caribbean and it was like seeing a masterpiece. Bsg and firefly falls into that category imo
