This is Scorsese's best film and his last great one although I have a soft spot for Bringing out the Dead. Watch it now.

I dont know why the costume dramas after this didnt take cues from it in terms of editing, lighting and juxtaposition. Its very old fashioned in a way using tropes from silent film like closing the frame but thats what makes it fresh.
