GOOLD?
So I just finished Enemy Mine and Space Race. Expected to hate the Unas episode, because I dislike them intensely, but seeing Chaka sqaure up to Michael Rooker was funny af.Now Space Race was fucking awesome, but it kinda mssed up my perception of the universe. It looked like there were mutiple worlds/races with advanced spaceships, a whole space based society reminiscent of Star Trek. I didn know that. I thought there were the occasional advanced societies that kept out of space like the Tollan and everyone else was village tier or industrial at best not soace age. How does that jive with the goold empire? Why don't the goold go and demolish the Space Race dudes and their planets? The only explanation I can think of is that the goold control inly a small sector of the galaxy. I thought they had conquered everything except some pockets here and there? I am confus.

>>217013959We never got canon info on GOOLD holdings. Some episodes show maps with Ha'taks all over the galaxy while others say 10 ships are a huge fleet. It's down to plot convenience. Personally, I think they are spread around the galaxy in small pockets around systems with gates, so there's lots of space for others out there. Remember in S1 Ha'taks needsd years to cross space between distant systems, before the Apohpis upgrades and later on Anubis.

It's a decent episode without context, but it completely fucks with your expectations of the stargate universe and opens up a whole bunch of cans of worms too that they never would have had time to explain away in 1 episode. Think they realized she wasn't doing much in the show so they contrived a situation where she could look strong and have purpose. Instead it came off as two members of the local Magic the Gathering club having a sissy slap fight over something mundane. His character's purpose seemed to mostly be so Weir would have someone unlikable to push around. Instead it came off as someone weak abusing their position when they should have been able to lean on leadership skills. Simply poor writing.
