How is that every aspect of filmmaking from CGI, cinematography, music, sound design, lighting, costume, set design, etc continues to advance and get better and better while writing has regressed to a level that makes you question if it was written by a primary school student?
>>217014423Not enough military veterans in the writer rooms
>>217014423> every aspect of filmmaking from CGI, cinematography, music, sound design, lighting, costume, set design, etc continues to advance and get better What the hell are you talking about? None of these things have gotten better in the last 20 years, except sound design and certain aspects of CGI
>>217014423>continues to advanceWhat the fuck are you talking about. CGI peaked in 2009, nobody can hear shit and movies look worse than they ever did.Agree that writing is by far the biggest problem.
Too many modern big budget movies have garbage visuals and CGI.
Everything has gotten worse because they stopped hiring competent white men to do it, and the remaining white men are cowed into quiet submission under a culture of female/DEI dominance exacerbating the effects
>>217014742That's not the fault of technology.
It used to be that if a film was badly written people didn't go to it. But then Disney perfected marketing to the point where the quality of the movie is kind of irrelevant, people would go to see it if you spent enough money telling them to go see it. You need good visuals to market a movie, for trailers and billboards and viral tiktok clips, whatever, but you don't necessarily need good writing.
>>217014423>he already forgot about the writer's strike that destroyed the creative side of Hollywood
>>217014423When Hollywood started using jews instead of Italians, everything got worse.
>>217014759Not him but it's the fault of leaning on technology. There seems to be a real 'we'll get it in post' or 'we can decide what it will be later and do it with CGI' approach to modern filmmaking. It's a lazy and indecisive way to make films and almost always produces shit.
>>217014759Yes it is. Technology has allowed all of post to be outsourced to the cheapest dollar when it used to be all done in Hollywood. Also instead of using CGI selectively where it works it is now used as a cost cutting measure.
>>217014423How is that every aspect of filmmaking from CGI... etc continues to advance and get better and betterHave you fucking seen ANY greenscreen in the last fifteen years? Compositing has taken an absolute shit because CGI is now given to the lowest bidder on a per-shot basis.
>>217014726>>217014741writer apologists
>>217015010>Also instead of using CGI selectively where it works it is now used as a cost cutting measure.CGI isn't a cost cutting measure, it almost always costs more than utilising on location shooting or practical effects, There's just less effort and planning involved and it becomes someone else's problem to finish on time plus decisions can be made later or change more easily implemented after filming. It's often the worst of all worlds.
>>217015036writer apologist
>>217014989> the fault of leaning on technologyAnd who is doing the leaning? People.>>217015010>Technology has allowed all of post to be outsourced to the cheapest dollarNot the technology's fault. The blame rests squarely with the people in charge. If you invest the time, dollars and talent, CGI is great. CGI can't be blamed for some faggot saying, "oh we can just remove that vent in post so I don't need to think about camera placement lol."
The other two are bad now, but the writing seems the worst because the bar has to be lowered for jeets and chinks. International releases didn't use to be a thing.
If you really want you can hire some competent cinematographers and sound designs guys, hell godzilla minus one already proved that if you want decent CGI you don't need to spend 100 million dollars. Is all possible just picking the right people and making sure they do their job.But good writers are a scarcity in Hollywood. If you are making a tv show you are stuck with Liberals arts millenials.
>>217014423Hollywood purposely advances bad/mediocre scripts to make audiences amenable to them, meaning that they aren't at the behest of writers and don't have to worry about the risk of another strike
>>217014423>primary schoolHow's life in the United Kuckdom?
>>217014423Writing involves having life experience and the ability to entertain different perspectives.
>>217014423Extreme, widespread poltical repression.
>>217014989Old filmmakers used technology to advance their craft. Everything from different types of bulbs for lighting, to dollies, to CGI
>>217014980>When Hollywood started using jewsStarted?
>>217014989A lot of this comes from the corporatisation of filmmaking as well. Stanford MBAs coming in applying agile management to movies because that's what they're trained to do, mindless of the fact that a movie is supposed to be a piece of art, not a business endeavour.
>>217014423Writing is overrated.
>>217014423Oh yeah, visuals are getting better. Cinematography and cgi do not look like ass these days. Nope.
