New Year's Eve EditionHow's everyone celebrating New Year's tonight? Hopefully the Classic Doctor Who Channel will upload another serial before 2026.
Been reading The Invisibles. This is kind of just a better version of RTD Doctor Who.Did they ever approach Morrison about writing DW for real?
>>217014620RTD ruined everything. It's over.
>>217015242If anyone competent ever gets the reins. they'll just ignore everything he did, and carry on.
>>217014911>Did they ever approach Morrison about writing DW for real?Morrison actually did write some comics for DWM, in the '80s:https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Grant_Morrison's_Doctor_Whohttps://tardis.wiki/wiki/Grant_Morrison's_Doctor_Whohttps://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comics/series/103511/grant-morrisons-doctor-whohttps://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/5594716/grant-morrisons-doctor-who-1https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/2133673/grant-morrisons-doctor-who-2These are of the reprints of Morrison's (rather limited) output for DWM. However, there is this article about him wanting to write for the actual series, though the only way I could learn about this is from Bleeding Cool as what morrison wrote about is behind a paywall and the article from TechRadar only mentions DW very briefly, so take this with a grain of salt:>"At the start of 2013, I went down to London to pitch a bunch of ideas to Steven Moffat and his team… I think there were two potentially great stories out of the five or so I pitched – one was a 'timey-wimey' story designed to work as a high concept Doctor Who feature film and the other a heart-wrenchingly emotive Railway Children episode set in World War 2 – nevertheless, even after a few attempts at refining the first idea, I didn't make the grade. Having now worked at all stages of TV production, I know exactly where I went wrong in emphasising certain aspects of the story over the ones the BBC were keener for to have in foreground.>"One of my stories involved meeting the Doctor as a child, which then happened in a very different way in the episode Listen. I'd also created some new monsters they really liked so while unwilling to commission any scripts from me, the BBC did offer to buy out my baddies! As an offer, it left a lot to be desired and I'd have got more busking Oasis songs for an hour, so I declined and kept the characters in the event I ever got another shot."https://archive.ph/mOhjw

How did a gay man manage to cast a female with those tits?
>>217016039I've read his comic stories. Those are good too.
>>217016818leave Tom alone. He's doing fine for 96, or whatever.
>>217016891Everyone loves nice tits, straight women and gay men included.
I still thing star trek is more ruined. However the ruining of doctor who is pretty incredible and the total lack of course correction is actually unbelievable.

>>217017198DW can always bounce back, just by virtue of the fact that canon literally doesn't matter. There's not one era of DW that doesn't screw up established canon in some regard. The most natural thing in the world would be to hit a big red reset button, and just start fresh. All we need is a shared agreement that no one really likes RTD2 or the Chibnall era, and we aren't going to reference it again. In fact, limit references to old eras in general. You don't need it. It's all just baggage, past a certain point.
>>217017250So what though? That's one actor's opinion.
I stand by the notion that a black or female Doctor isn't necessarily cursed as an idea, but the 2010's and 2020's were the absolute worst time for it to happen. At this point I just resist the idea on the basis that I don't think there's anything "wrong" with the Doctor being a white man. That's a different conversation entirely. We have unfortunately been backed into this corner, where we now have to fight for white men to simply exist on television, and not be villains. It wasn't me that did that. It was all of them, and their bigotry.
Replace RTD with Carl from Liverpool
>>217017996based Carl.
>>217017996>like 7 or something years after the TV Movie, people were still like "we have a current Doctor"Honestly, I respect this attitude. The franchise as it stands is such a production line. We don't NEED a new Doctor every three years.

>>217016891He thought she was American>>217017996Isn't Paul from Liverpool? Carl is only two letters away in name...
>>217017606Russell Tovey played the main character in the recent spinoff.
