He played all sides for his amusement, leaving everything to the nurse just to mess with her, if she hadn't played by her own rules (inherently good person, pukes if she lies), she would be in jail and her family deported.

Because his family grew up to be assholes that don't deserve shit. There's definitely an under(over?)tone of "ytpipo don't deserve shit from their elders and PoC deserve it instead" however that I find distasteful.
Frankly, I thought the twist was going to be that the old fucker had intentionally set up the situation so that his family would tear itself apart while the nurse got everything because he was a right cunt.
That aside rate the mystery a 5-6 out of 10 but the movie a 5. It's competent, but I don't enjoy it for the reasons listed.

K cool, there's no reason to analyze anything else because everything else in the movie is totally peripheral to creating a plotline of le heckin immigrant hero getting evil white people's resources. Every other detail is just tossed in haphazardly to create that story.

Watched this for the first time recently, I had ignored it when it came out and didn't read much about it. I just wanted a fun murder mystery, not the most hamfisted, unsubtle political propaganda in movie form that I've ever seen.
