Shows are really still doing the dramatic “I’m gay” scene in 2025? The only surprising thing about a coming out scene these days is that they didn’t start the show already letting the viewer know immediately that a character was gay. It’s not 1994 anymore when advertisers will pull out if you show a gay kiss, you’re putting nothing at risk and you’re saying nothing.

The thing about these coming out scenes that was always strange to me is, shouldn’t the people who you’re closest to and know you intimately have already sort of figured out that you’re gay just from being around you all the time?
