The Americans were capable of dropping an atom bomb over Japan because they had complete air superiority at that point and arguably they did worse damage to Tokyo with their terror bombings.But Germany also had no capability of invading the US since their navy was entirely U-Boat oriented, but they sure could make the war for Britain completely unfeasible if they were free to pursue naval development instead of duking it out with the USSR. My great grandpa was a pow in Germany. He was in the Air Force. His plane was shot down then he was captured by them. He was only held for a year(he was captured in 1944) I don’t remember all the details, but I’d love to hear him talk about stories like that when I was a kid
