What I never got was why did Batman branding criminals make criminals on the inside want to kill them?
Like
>"Hey Joey, what are you in here for? I was armed robbery"
>"Ah I'm murder."
>"Oh cool. Hey wait, that one guy has a bat brand, what did he do?"
>"Oh I heard he pushed some woman down some stairs"
>"LET'S FUCKING KILL HIM!"
like what??? The criminals Batfleck went after was mostly just the usual drug and trafficking shit. It's not like he went after rats or pedophiles (the only two kind of people to get beat up or killed in prisons anyway)

It's explained in the directors' cut, much like everything else in the movie really. Luthor had guys who were paying men on the inside to kill them.

That is so insanely stupid and moronic
God I'm glad the Snyder verse is done with

not really, Batman was snooping into his plans so he turned Batman into a killer by proxy so that Superman would try and stop him. it's pretty standard Luthor manipulation stuff.

Also it wasnt really Snyder's vision, the screenwriter Chris Terrio talks about in an interview how WB had this script for years, demanded things like the bat-branding be kept in and how he tried to fix it up to make it less stupid. I think overall they did a good job. Made for an interesting disection of Batman and Superman as characters and how similar they are at their cores despite being seemingly opposites in presentation and method.

Making Batman seem psychotic & irrational, which he is for most of the movie at that, was logical for the idea of the two characters fighting each other.

There's literally a scene "new rules" with Alfred having problem with how he has changed.
