Them entering and exiting the Upside down through the MAC-Z is the stupidest decision in the entire fucking series.They showed earlier in S5E7 that all you have to do is lift any of the steel plates criss-crossing Hawkins to access the Upside down. Yet instead of sneaking inside stealthily, they decide to make a show of busting through military checkpoints, killing 6 National Guardsmen, entering the Upside down in front of the military, tipping Wolf Pack off to where they were and getting Kali killed, and then they even decide to exit the same way they came in somehow not expecting the military to be ready and waiting for them in their own checkpoint. It's the stupidest thing in the entire show, it's insultingly stupid. They only did it to have an excuse to kill Kali and give El her dumb sacrifice, which wouldn't have been necessary if the cast acted with even a modicum of rationality.NO APOLOGIES. I've legitimately been watching this show and posting in these threads since the first weekend it was released. This is worse than the Game of Thrones finale to me because for GOT they at least picked a lane, stuck in, and things DID happen. For ST basically nothing fucking happens. It's like a bunt because they didn't want to possibly risk making anyone upset or ruin the inevitable reunion season. They ended season 4 in a really cool way that made me actually excited for season 5. Then after all of that time we get something that AI could have written in an hour. AI probably would have done better though because it actually would have had some stakes. Objectively nothing at all happens in this season. They spend the entire time building up this finale battle but its the exact same final battle we've seen 4 times previously with this show with that caveat that this time its totally for real REALLY the ending. lame/10

I had a revelation about this show a few days ago. The fans of it myself included always wanted it to be on prestige television with stakes, good writing, and tension but the creators and Netflix essentially want it to be a slightly edgier version of something you'd see on Nickelodeon or Disney channel in 1999.They don't want stakes. They want to sell toys to children and ultimately have it be a big happy kumbaya type thing.
