All the flashbacks were pretty sad though, everyone was so young, if only they had filmed each season sooner. Shame Linda Hamilton's character didn't fucking go off into space when it all collapsed, like all the dying pregnant women that were probably still there.But then again having her run up to Eleven, try to grab her and realize it's an illusion before getting sucked off into nothing, would ruin the "maybe it's real" ending.

This show is nothing but contrivances and that is its biggest sin. It feels like the writers write backwards, with an end goal in mind, and then they just make shit up to get characters there while ignoring anything previously established that could get in the way. We need the characters to determine that the upside down is actually a wormhole? Just have Dustin find a book about it that explains everything. We need our heroes to effortlessly kill Vecna and the Mindflayer? Let’s just forget that Demogorgons exist and not have them interfere with the final fight. Our heroes have been caught by the military and are likely to be imprisoned? Uhhh…they let them go free after El seemingly dies since uh…they were only really after El! We need Vecna to be preoccupied with something for the entire season so our heroes have all the time in the world to come up with a plan, arm themselves, and then execute the plan? He needs to kidnap kids and babysit them for a couple of days before his plan to merge the worlds can take place. Seriously, almost every single story beat in this show is contrived. Add in no stakes thanks to literally every character having plot armour, dialogue just being exposition dumps and usually done using props, and is it any wonder this season is being poorly received?
