My dad dislikes Eggers movies and finds them repulsive, but finds Sean Baker's films entertaining and funny.

Is Sean Baker more Boomer friendly than Eggers?

Baker's films make me feel like I've been dipped in dogshit coming down from a 40 day meth bender. But in a way that is deeply good and deeply true. That said I worry for your father's empathy if he doesn't get a little weepy after the Florida Project or Anora etc.

Sean Baker makes actual kino that evokes the spirit of the New Hollywood movement that your dad probably grew up on/with that look like actual films with proper lighting instead of Eggers just going "it's heckin time period authentic!!" and just making dull and uninspired looking garbage you've seen countless times before.

He said he empathized with Ani and liked her because she was "a fighter", I thought she was an obnoxious bitch though.

That was his exact argument, than Eggers films were basic and unoriginal.

eggers is not on the highest level, period

>My dad dislikes Eggers movies and finds them repulsive,

>boomer gets filtered by the Egger-Oner. Imagine my shock.

Egger-oner
noun
>A long, uninterrupted single take in filmmaking, invented by director Robert Eggers. The technique is characterized by complex blocking, subtle lighting, and a focus on building tension, often used to immerse the viewer in the narrative.
>Part of Eggers' broader cinematic language, called "videogame cinematography," which integrates immersive, video game-inspired techniques to enhance the psychological and atmospheric experience of the film.
>Etymology: Named after Robert Eggers, the filmmaker who popularized the technique.

based dad. it's funny because Sean Baker movies are also quite "basic" but they have so much going for them in terms of characters/writing/cinematography/etc that they really stand out and feel like nothing else currently coming out. /tv/ can greentext his quotes all they want but his movies really DO feel like Old Hollywood shit from the 70s/80s re-imagined for a new age while Eggars is just doing some by the numbers shit you've seen before. I do enjoy The VVitch as a horror fan but all of the rest of his stuff is pretty questionable at best. I can't say the same for Baker, who seemingly always has a very clear idea of what he wants his movies to look/feel like and you can really tell.

Eggers makes bloodborne cutscenes

in spite of the subject matter, Baker's movies have a humanity to them that many of his peers don't.

White boys who looks like a lesbian and have dabbled in drugs and whores yet washed up jaded to earthly pleasures truly are God's greatest sons.
