How would you rank the seasons? For me, it's like this.
3 was the absolute low point.
1 >>>> 3 > 4 > 2 > 5

I didn’t watch past season 1
I purposely only watched S1 and pretended that was the entirely of the show. I’m getting the sense I made the right decision doing that.I’m upset I didn’t do the same for Squid Games. I wasted hours of my life waiting for S2 to rebound and it never did. I can’t be asked to continue watching. It seems these Netflix original series are one season wonders, then the creators scramble to extend the series.
1 > 4 > 3 > 5 > 2 The good parts of 2 are good but so much of it is just redoing shit from season 1 that it bores me to tears 5 is shit but at least it's its own brand of shit

anyone voting season 2 highly is full of shit. Ignoring the pointless spinoff episode, all of the plots are stupid and worthless. The only characters that come off better in that season are Steve and Dustin. Complete waste of time otherwise.
I wish they would've gone with the anthology idea instead, season 2 is just the same show exactly again.

Season 1 is great original television. 10/10.Season 2 is largely a rehash of season 1, but the producers clearly got into the Duffers ear and told them to make it more 80s, so whereas season 1 felt like the 80s, season 2 felt more like nostalgia wank. It did have some good moments but largely was a big downgrade. 5/10.Season 3 is insane. Seasons 1 and 2 fit together, seasons 4 and 5 fit together, season 3 is its own thing. It feels like the Duffers went "you want the 80s? fine, we'll give you the 80s." Its not as good as 1 but its great. 8/10.Season 4 was better in the buildup than it was in the ending, probably because they were already planning for 5. The California and Hawkins plots were generally good, the Russian stuff was lame. 6/10.Season 5 was kind of a mess. The best thing about it was the new characters Holly and Derek, and I liked the wrap up even though the final battle was underwhelming. 4/10.1>>>3>>>>>>4>2>5

So many supposedly good shows suffer from making a great pilot or first season, and once they see the acclaim, and most importantly, the money, they try to milk it as much as possible. Sopranos, Fargo, Breaking Bad, Better Caul Saul, Severance, Pluburis, Stranger Things etc. they all suffer from this problem.
