At least in fallout 3 (the story and characters suck) you can have fun while exploring because you constantly need to change guns and gear depending on what breaks and you need to save your good guns for when you really need them. Fallout New Vegas is the only fallout game that feels like an actual game with more than 2 important characters in it. And the openness of the mojave gave it a really unique feel while having good dungeons to explore.

Ingame, the Legion are an army of barbarians managed by a self-proclaimed emperor. It’s a collection of 86 tribes that expanded through force and its economy is reliant upon raids and slaves. “Caesar” sees himself as the means that will justify the ends, regarding technology, including medicine, as a crutch that will at best weaken humanity and at worst prove a temptation/corruption that will cause another catastrophe. Caesar’s right hand is the Legate, an 8 ft guy who wears full body armor and an intimidating mask. The Legate was a tribal brave until his tribe was massacred in front of him and when offered the choice of death or fealty, he chose to join the Legion. Despite his utilitarian worldview and callousness toward the varying brutalities his Legion is responsible for(ritual rape, genocide etc.) Caesar was educated as a young man but ultimately believes that only through great trial can humanity be reborn/might makes right/the ends justify the means. This makes him persuasive when dealing with uneducated tribal buffoons and a sort of mentor for those who prove themselves more intellectually capable of instruction aka the Legate. The Legate was instructed by Caesar and adopted his worldview, but he never fully recovered from the loss of his tribe and is sort of the lesser, angrier, less trustworthy version of Caesar. This character in the show however is not the Legate but his successor. He’s clearly some sort of commentary as in he’s a visual representation of “I have big shoes to fill” but also in every other way you can imagine it seems like>Why was he written this way? They could have designed a new, ultimate T-51 for the show, but my theory is that they went with the T-60 since it already existed and looked good. The T-45 costume we've seen in some pre-release materials is looking pretty goofy and I'd expect a T-51 to look about the same unless redesigned using the F1 cover as a basis.

In the game Fallout New Vegas you meet Legate Lanius (Caesar's best) and his predecessor Joshua Graham (formerly Malpais Legate). Caesar's Legion is an almost purely merit based society, cunning guys get put into Frumentarii spies, fighty protective guys become Praetorians, Decent leaders and good fighters become Centurions, Great leaders and also geeat fighters become Legates. In the game both Legates we know of are absolute fucking monsters, Lanius is a giant with a sword who ambushed Legion patrols on his own and took 15 men down (probably with his bare hands) he can run at full speed in very heavy armor, and he's also a pretty decent strategist. Joshua Graham was reported dead by snipers 5 times and got up 5 times, and also set alight and tossed into the Grand canyon and still survived.

The NCR in the games is somewhat more developed than the NCR in the TV series, but still they cannot provide nowhere near as much comfort as siding with Mr House can. Also since in no faction could you opt out of the multiracial distopia of current USA, so might as well pick the one that offers the most luxury, and technology. As in what point is the Legion's breeding of hard men, if they will be mutts, what is the point of building a pre-war style american society like the NCR, if it is built for mutts, if there are no racial factions, which you could side with, side with the guy who have the tech, also he is the most likely to be convinced of the benefits of race realism, being the technocrat that he is, not the NCR who sent a groid to be the ambassador to New Vegas. So I'd rank the choices as House > YesMan > Legion > NCR. Also if siding with Mr House, the Courier would be the richest person who have a functioning body still in New Vegas (if not the Wasteland), also it's not like the courier could not take over New Vegas later, especially with continously learning technologies from Big Mt (also infinity pussy not just because of wealth, but because of tech, being able to take it, should one choose to).

Or at the least used a brass-bronze impregnated paint/coating on the printed shell as the base layer before dulling and distressing it. Someone good like weta and it'd look as real as urukai and Gondor armor instead of being literal unironic cosplay. It's the same problem with all the power armor being glaringly foam rubber. Bulky retro computers and primitive looking robots inspired by 1950's science fiction.Fallout 4 is actually more futuristic than any of the previous games. It has assaultrons, synths of the mechanical and biological varieties, high tech power armor, digital simulators that jack into your brain... In some ways, I get what you mean though. Some of the earlier games have certain futuristic vibes in them that F4 lacks. I just think people unfairly pretend like the games prior to Fallout 4 were somehow less retrofuturistic.
The entire tone of this show is so odd. People keep saying Todd hates NV but it clearly isn't true. They obviously put a lot of effort in replicating things like the Legate's armor, or adding the Bison Steve for a 5 seconds cameo background shot, making sure to add Caeser's unique Displacer Fist, etc. But then you get utterly ridiculous stuff like the two NCR Rangers being cut off from reinforcements for TEN fucking years, or the laughable little Legion stalemate, or the Ghoul being able to save himself from scorpion venom by cutting a small chunk of meat out of his leg.It's just so weird. It's as if half the team is people who did research on Fallout, it's music, it's setting, the tone/thoughts of the factions. But the people in charge of certain decisions like the weird shit mentioned above are just utterly moronic.
He runs around the house, collecting valuables, drops them into the basement while avoiding bats and spiders, and of course bandits, who are wet and/or sticky.

They shouldn't even stayed there to begin with. Garrison work was mostly left to line troops and rangers were stationed around Mojave on a need by need basis. They would've fucked right off to help remaining states or go back to their pre-NCR organization instead of sitting around in the middle of the desert waiting for reinforcements.
