Walt’s downfall wasn’t caused by Skyler or circumstance, but by his own pride and choices. From the very beginning, he had legitimate, safe exits that would have solved his problems without endangering his family. Gretchen and Elliott offered him a well-paying job, health insurance, and full coverage for his cancer treatment. Had Walt accepted, his medical bills would have been handled by the company, his family would have been financially secure, and no one would have been put at risk. Even if he didn’t want the job, he could have accepted their financial help purely for treatment and walked away clean.
Walt also wasn’t some underqualified charity case. He was a co-founder of Gray Matter Technologies, an accomplished chemist, and a Nobel Prize–winning scientist. Realistically, he would have been making a six-figure salary or more, with stock options and long-term financial security. His cancer treatment would have been covered by corporate insurance, and his family’s future would have been stable.
Instead, Walt chose crime—not out of necessity, but out of ego. He couldn’t stand the idea of being helped or feeling “less than,” so he manufactured a narrative where cooking meth was his only option. As his criminal life escalated, he lied constantly, exposed his family to extreme danger, and brought violence directly into their lives. Skyler’s anger and fear were reasonable reactions to discovering that her husband was a drug manufacturer tied to cartels, murders, and money laundering.
Skyler didn’t “betray” Walt; she reacted to being trapped in a situation she never chose. Walt made unilateral decisions that destroyed trust and safety, then blamed others when the consequences caught up to him. While Walt is a complex and compelling character, the show makes it clear that his tragedy is self-inflicted. He had intelligence, status, and multiple lifelines—but he chose power and pride instead.

hank is the only likable character in the show

She should have been killed when she made his kid retarded.
The whole show is basically a cautionary tale of blind loyalty to people who have none in return.

that's a seriously fucked up sentiment, even as a joke

Waltuh got an offer for a cozy job that would easily provide for his family and cancer treatment right at the beginning of the show.
He declined and decided to become a criminal endangering his life and his family.
Skyler is the biggest buzz kill bitch on the planet and has every right to be one.

>Put your life in danger every single day to provide for your family, even in this weakened state
He didn't have to do any of this. The people he started a business with were prepared to do anything for him. They told him they owed him everything. They would have paid for all of his cancer treatments. He was a fucking teacher because he was was terrified of his fiancee being from a rich family or some shit. If I'm wrong, the reason he left the company was equally as stupid.
Your fat wife then cheats on you with chad from 20 years ago and gives him all your money
The wife that was separated from him and wanted a fucking divorce? Are you retarded? Did you even watch the show? You'd know that if Ted was implicated the investigation would have pulled her and Walt in. That's why she did it. She didn't expect Ted to be an idiotic mongoloid.

Walt liked the power and “respect” he got cooking meth, even if only the whiff of it during S1 before he got offered the job. He was sick of the monotony and the thrill was enough to keep him interested. We see him “quit” multiple times before he gets lulled back by the veneer of danger the meth cooking brought to his life. The secret Walt took to the grave is that he hated his family, his job and his life of boring suburban America. He worked at a fucking car wash for Gods sakes.
