After seeing every episode I would rank the seasons 1. S12. S33. S44. S25. S5
I liked the 80s mall setting. Season 4 and 5 was so focused on Vecna that the 80s aesthetics were disappearing.

1 > 2 = 4 > 3 > 5I'm putting 2 on equal ground with 4 because I'd need to rewatch them to be more decisive, but season 1 makes season 5 look like a total cartoon. Even the finale gets worse to me the longer I sit with it. It's almost unbelievable how good the first season is compared to the fifth, even if I prefer its first half over its second.

It was the closest they got to an anthology series and if they had the balls they could've just made Robin and Steve the MCs for the season with the kids in a supporting side arc. It would have been a much better series if they stuck to "pre internet urban legend is actually true, gets uncovered by local kids and gets covered up by the US government" than becoming a bloated MCU monstrosity where every one of the 57 main characters has to have an equal amount of screen time.
