Sam Worthington was definitely a bit lukewarm in Avatar, but in these two sequels, he has been fantastic. It depends on his character as well. Jake started out without too much going on in terms of depth and personality but it's really interesting to see how he has changed over the years, but also how he hasn't changed. He talks and sounds like that same jarhead but he sees everything differently, what started out as a loose cannon with nothing to lose has become a very concerned and fragile person who has so many people depending on him and struggles to find the way forward, regardless of his attachment to the Na'vi that human side of him shines through always and prevents him from believing that "Eywa will provide".He and Zoe Saldana have mastered playing believable characters with real emotions and I have no idea how they can do it so well in just a sound stage. The third act of this last movie seemed very weak imo. Perhaps the weakest arc of all the films. First 2 hours felt tight but both build up for final act and act itself felt weaker than everything before.Battle can be separated in four phases, three of them had own flaws: >Na'vi vs RDA - Na'vi had literal cakewalk, there was barely tension, i sat with pokerface there;>Mangkwan showing up - Na'vi suddenly started dropping like a flies without much resistance - tension raised but it felt extremely one-sided; RDA continued their whale hunting showing zero reaction on the fact that most of their people got their ass kicked - this felt weird;>Eywa responded - kinda lame that it was basically an attack of tentacle boys. I wished there were way more species. Again - one-sided slaughter;>Jake vs Quatrich. That was alright.Most of the battle didn't make me locked in completely. Compared to those in first one or even a second one, i think it was a bit phoned in direction and script wise.
