>ITT: Good vibes only/tv/ is so fucking negative about everything, positivity mostly coming in terms of either sarcasm or a gooner mindset. Largely because this place is flooded with contrarians whose entire purpose seems to be demoralisation by way of shitting on anything anyone might profess to enjoy. I wouldn't be surprised if they were bots at this point. Therefore in this new year, I would like to suggest a regular Good Vibes thread, a safe place where anons only talk about what they like and the following is barred:Criticism in reply>You liked [movie]? It's complete fucking shit you moronSarcastic praise in reply>oh yeah cos the acting was so great lolSarcastic praise as bait>I fucking loved [obviously shit movie] and I don't understand the hate for it etcExclusionary praise (criticism by proxy)>the only good thing about [movie] was the soundtrackGooner praise>[movie] was great because [actress] has great titsWhat say you /tv/? Do you think this board could be capable of such a thing, or is it too far gone?
I watched Death Wish from '74. It was a very pleasant movie, very catharthic to see a guy finally getting fed up with all the ncriminals and just gunning them down like they deserve.
>>217071151Thanks for reminding me of another film I need to see. I remember feeling similarly about Dirty Harry, it was refreshing to see criminals get fucked without the protag having some kind of moral crisis.
My favorite two movies of last year were One Battle After Another and 28 Years Later, and i'm tired of pretending otherwise
>>217071465I was put off watching One Battle After Another, despite high ratings, because of a pregnant protagonist firing a machine gun next to her belly. Was that taken out of context? What did you enjoy about the film?
>>217071385Death wish goes so hard in the other direction that it's actually quite funny. The ending is peak cinema.
>>217071648The portrayal of that character is way more nuanced than defenders or detractors will have you believe but i think the movie leans into her not being a good person and her failures as a wife, mother and revolutionary are what kicks off the plot.I liked the acting (Leo is incredible), the direction and camera work, the music, and the overall sense of community the movie portrays.
I only saw Sonic 3 this year. It was a near total rehash of Sonic adventure 2 battle. If i was 7 it would be cool but I was 11 when the game came out.
Good idea. I like kdramas because they're sincere and not cynical or irony poisoned like modern western tv. They have a whole genre called "healing dramas", this is one of my favorites.
>>217071907Oh I just realized this might be criticism by proxy, my bad. Still though the point stands without comparison to western tv.
>>217070976+1 to making this a rolling general thread, fucking sick of the endless shit flinging that goes on hereI watched Scent of a Woman recently and thought Pacino's performance was fantastic, playing blind without using dark glasses as a cop-out, would probably never happen again now they would use CGI or something.
>>217072085nah it's ok if it's general, just not specific shows/movies/people
>>217071907'healing drama' sounds interesting, what does it actually mean? like it's a feel good drama or something?
I liked the Stranger Things finale. Was it perfect? No. It didn't have to be. To me it gave each important character closure and that's what I expected.
>>217071870You mean last year?I think all 3 Sonic movies have set a new standard for video game adaptations, the first one especially. Brought Carrey back to form as well.
>>217072228Sorry for the copy paste but this describes the concept better than I could. The best part is they are played straight, there's no wink to the audience about what is being shown it's all done sincerely.>"Healing Drama" is a genre that focuses on narratives centered around emotional recovery, personal growth, and the exploration of human resilience in the face of adversity. These shows and films often delve into the lives of characters grappling with profound challenges, trauma, or internal conflicts. The primary aim is to evoke empathy, offer solace, and provide a sense of catharsis to the audience.>At the core of Healing Dramas are characters dealing with various emotional wounds or hardships, ranging from grief, loss, or illness to psychological struggles. These narratives frequently showcase their journeys toward healing, emphasizing the transformative power of empathy, compassion, and self-discovery.
Can we have a meta conversation about why /tv/ is so negative or is that too negative by proxy?
>>217072864Given this thread is as much about the suggestion of starting a regular thread as it is about the topic itself, yeah go for it. Also it's not being negative about any specific show/movie/celeb so it's fair game.
>>217072466That doesn't sound unique to me, I've seen plenty of (non-Korean) shows and movies in the past that are straight dramas focusing on personal hardships. The Whale is a recent well-known example. Or am I missing a subtle difference?
>>217073573It’s not that healing dramas are the only works about personal hardship. The difference is how they approach it. Western prestige dramas like The Whale are still structured around confrontation, climax, and catharsis. They build toward an emotional event. Healing dramas often avoid that entirely. They linger on endurance, routine, and partial improvement, and they’re comfortable ending without a dramatic breakthrough or moral reckoning.
How did sincerity become associated with being cringe? That's the primary cause of this board's negativity in my opinion.
>>217073956sarcasm and bitterness are just mini-hits of shock value.
>>217073956I think it's the anonymity. Other places generally encourage you to be positive because being negative will get you a bad rep, but here that doesn't matter, so people pour out all their bile here. That's being generous though. Mostly I think it's just people being assholes and actively wanting to affect people as much as possible
toxic positivity
seems /tv/ is not interested in positivity
>>217076209seems so
>>217076209unfortunately expected this as the most likely outcome, /tv/ is a lost cause for actually discussing movies in a positive light
keeping the good vibes alive
what was everyone's favorite movie they saw this year?
>>217080477I'd have to give it more thought but in the moment I enjoyed Deathstalker 2025 and feel they did cheesy fan service right. The fact that they added in clips from the first movie was *chef's kiss*.
>>217070976I support this general.
>>217070976>good vibes thread>one of the rules is not praising any films I dont likelmao
>>217080477Rats! Truly funny.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiRSo1W3tF8
>>217080477I made this for last year, haven't gotten around to making one for 2025 yet.
I don't know how to sincere post my brain has been broken because the only way to get engagement on this shit board is to bait.
>>217074138Post some crystal cafe screenshots.
